They know a lot less than that... These are vintage road racing bikes, not "triathlon" bikes. I doubt the rider and the seller are the same person. same family maybe...
Definitely a weird listing.

Now here's the opposite:

One of these bikes is not too far off in price...

Yep, after all the Masi/Mario/Medici fracas they decided to get away, accepting a generous offer from Tony Soprano to move to New Jersey.

More of a curiosity than wacky, but this is the tallest French bike I've seen, if it really is French. Rainbow bands on the seat tube make me think Gitane, but that frame size. Any guesses or definite knowledge on this?

Odd size? Check

https://kalamazoo.craigslist.org/bik...174842579.html

Selling bike - $150 (Portage)

bicycle frame material: other/unknown
bicycle type: road
condition: new
frame size: 5 feet
wheel size: other/unknown

I am selling a new bike since I don’t fit on it (purchased it online which was stupid)! Anyone 5 feet plus 1 inch tall would be okay! I almost fit and I’m 4 feet 11 inches tall! So, I’m selling a new, purple and white bike with 2 locks - 1 key, 1 combination, and a tarp.. let me know if you’re interested!

You should go and tell them that the bike probably fits, but they shouldn't expect to be able to touch the ground while in the saddle comfortably...

Esperanza Springeth Eternale...

evidently an early example as it comes with solid axle hubs

head emblem hath gone walkabout which seller carefully doth mention not

nor doth he & she show its absence clearly in images provided

the fun here is in the valuation -

I'm sorry, were you talking about the Brooklyn hipster post directly above yours? The spokes appear to be "J-bend," I think, no?

That's pretty cool if it works. Until I noticed the little gizmo at the front fork, I was thinking just how well you had to ride, not to,,, Even so, I'm surprised the system is sufficiently rigid to work well.

No, from the looks of the hubs in that one photo it appears that the hubs resemble Pulstars, which utilize straight spokes. Better photos would be helpful but it's not really important.

That ^^^^^ wheel is not on the bicycle that's in the main ad photo. Main photo focus is about as sharp as a bearing ball, but you can still make out a black front hub.

So is it bait-and-switch fraud/scam, or just your all-too-common everyday overpriced laughably poorly advertised BSO? Inquring minds.... don't really care.....

I'm not talking about the color of the hub in the photo, but about the look of the flanges front and rear. As I said in my previous post, "Better photos would be helpful but it's not really important."

Oh, so the wheel photo is not from the ad? I guess we were supposed to guess that?

can someone list everything wrong with this description

Vintage Schwinn Paramount Racer in Excellent Condition - $3,000 (Seattle)

bicycle frame material: steel
bicycle type: road
brake type: cantilever
condition: excellent
electric assist: none
frame size: 55cm
handlebar type: drop
make / manufacturer: Schwinn
model name / number: Paramount Racer
serial number: P229
wheel size: 25 in
* Vintage Schwinn Paramount Racer Circa ~1955.
* Original paint, decals, and Modolo components.
* Reynolds 531 medium carbon steel construction.
* Single speed, owned by one person who took great care of the bike.
* A few scuff marks but in generally excellent condition.
* Piecing together serial number, Modolo years, and owner information bike frame #229 was built around 1955.

Plan to sell on ebay and expect price to be at least $3000. Thought I would try locally in Seattle first to see if a bicycle enthusiast here might be interested in picking up instead of me packing and shipping.

Respond here with questions or reasonable offers. Photos tell the story pretty well.

Thank you!

I, uh, have one of those in use. It's quite handy, though you might have to move a few bikes if the one you want is buried.

High trail for the win? Maybe should’ve looked at the BikesDirect assembly guide a little better. Tempted to message the seller but...... to open that can of worms?

Lots wrong here obviously BUT the key things are very close, P299, keyhole lugs, Emil Waystyn built, BB zerk fitting, Schwinn Major Taylor stem, Schwinn Steel cottered crank, may be stamped Paramount, This is the real deal to one degree or another, $3K may not be out of line.
