Wow.
Okay, I don't just get this section now, I'm smitten (if all that has been posted is true).
Thanks for all the replies to my question!
And, I don't just like pie, I bake it. Favorite, and the one I get the most compliments on, is my Mousse-filled Triple Chocolate Cookie Pie.

Bikes: Several bikes, Road, Mountain, Commute, etc.

Thanks Erikthefish,

For starting this thread . . .

I've been posting here for years and has no idea the 50+ forum was about all that! Of course I knew some of it, but the huge scope is refreshing.

I also post on:
1. Southern Californa (since that's where I live)
2. Long Distance Cycling (since I ride double centuries)
3. Commuting (since I commute to work)
4. Folding bikes (since I commute on a folding bike)

Welcome to 50+ and hope to see your posts on other forums as well!

New members who bake are required to send a pie to each of the other members. PM me for my mailing address.

Do you give out the recipe or just tease us with the thought?

Frankly, the best piece of pie is whatever one happens to be sitting in front of me at any given time.

As has been pointed out, this place is pretty mellow as a rule. When I'm looking for excitement I check out politics and religion.

And we have surgeries to talk about! I have a nifty picture of my hip replacement, of course I might get banned if I post it.

There are some different health issues that sneak up on ya post 50. If they haven't yet, duck!

Bowel movements. Let's not forget our bowel movements.

If you do forget, Metamucil works well.

Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

As you can read, this is where the smarter and wittier posts are found.

I had the same thought about 2 months ago when I turned 52 and finally checked out this forum for the first time. Now I know the real purpose is to give you an idea of what cycling will be like when you hit 60.

I've been away for awhile... Did someone mention pie in this thread, because my pie radar went off and pointed me in this direction.

Yes.

Yes, the Defenders of the One True Faith have successfully driven off the Right wing Infidel, who hasn't commented for about three pages.

We get it.

Really.

Oh well, I guess I better get used to it.

Getting used to it is the first step. What will surprise you is when you find yourself embracing it. This site is full of great people who can help with that transition. Welcome to the club.

The latest fad is a thing called grandchildren. It causes your phone to be filled with pictures and creates a phenomena called n3 +1, where not only do you need more bicycles, but you need more small bicycles.

Bikes: Cannondale Synapse '06, Mongoose titanium road bike '00--my commuter. Yes, Mongoose once made a decent ti road bike.

Now here is a group of cyclists that I don't need to explain why I do not shave my legs. You need to know how to take advantage of your age on subjects such as this.

Do more conservatives, libertarians or liberals shave their legs? There is a topic for real discussion!! Does this get reported more on Fox News or on MSNBC?
