Bikes: 1949 Hercules Kestrel, 1950 Norman Rapide, 1970 Schwinn Collegiate, 1972 Peugeot UE-8, 1976 Raleigh Sports, 1977 Raleigh Sports, 1977 Jack Taylor Tandem, 1984 Davidson Tandem, 2010 Bilenky "BQ" 650B Constructeur Tandem, 2011 Linus Mixte

I'm riding a B.17, B.17N, Professional, Flyer, Imperial, Imperial Narrow, B.66 and B.72. I like them all, though you'll never see me put a sprung saddle on my Norman Rapide. On a roadster, such as my Hercules Royal Prince, the B.66 and B.72 are a natural. After riding my Fuji Sagres in CT class with a regular bicycle seat for a short period of time, I concluded that Brooks is the best saddle for me and installed a Brooks Pro.

It has less rail range than the B17?

Whichever you decide to tory, you may want to consider buying your Brooks from Wallingford (https://www.wallbike.com/brand/brooks) with their 6 month unconditional guarantee.

BTW, I have no connection to them.

No, I don't think so. Here, see if you can make sense out of this photo:

The saddle at the back, the farthest one from the camera, is a Professional; the one in the middle is a B.17; the one in the foreground is a Wrights W3N.

Note in particular the shape of the rails between the nose piece and the clamp area. The difference in the shape of the rails here is mainly cosmetic; seen from the side, you can see the rails of a B.17 but the rails of a Professional are hidden. The clamp areas are the same, or very nearly the same. Another difference is that the B.17 has loops for a saddle bag, while the Professional does not.

The Wrights and the B.17 have the same frame except that the B.17 bag loops have eyelets in them, while the Wrights does not.

A good suggestion for anyone in North America! But I think Ze Zaskar lives in Europe, which would make shopping from Wallbike uneconomical.

The clamp areas look fairly the same to me

And yes, living in Europe makes Wallbike a long shot for me. But, a good thing about living here, is that I can get Brooks saddles much cheaper

The Team Pro and the B17 Select arrived today. My views on them:

Team Pro- GORGEOUS saddle, but unfortunately not for me. The rails are too short and I can't get it back enough on the seatpost. Also, the shape is too round for me, and the flat section is too short. The leather on mine is 4.5-4.8mm thick, good but nothing crazy. Also, the width difference for the B17 is not enough to make it easier to get behind. Is currently on sale.

B17 Select- This thing is built like a tank. The leather is between 5 to 5.5mm thick, and in some places goes to almost 6mm! Overall shape and rail lenght is the same as my old B17, which is a good thing. The frame finish is much better than the flimsy paint of the Standard models. I'll keep this one
