Tuesday did a shorter version of my Davis Is evening ride for 26 miles. Saturday there was a threat of rain the whole day. I got out early and did my S. Tampa route for 41 miles. Got home a half hour before the rain opened up. On the good side it was cloudy and not quite as hot. Also had a squirrel run under my front tire. I felt his little head get bumped by the rubber then he darted away. I think he was okay...the little bastard. Sunday did the S. Tampa route again, but in reverse to keep it interesting. It was very hot, but I felt better than last weekend. Another 41 miles.

Finally a long ride for me this year. Went into Austria and back. Been there beforehand with car and family during the winter time, but not on the bike until now. So pretty.
140 miles roundtrip.

Hinterriss on the way to Eng, Tyrol, Austria

Two fairly epic rides...
Thursday: Solo ride, trying out a new favorite loop in SE MN, featuring a scenic and twisty descent followed by a tough climb (tough enough that a lumber truck overheated halfway up the hill and started rolling backwards!) The last section of my loop was a no-go, as what was once a normal road got washed out and replaced with gravel. 63.3 miles/3366'.
Sunday: Weekend ladies' ride, epic edition, with only three riders. We hit two climbs that surprisingly I'd never done before (I scored a QOM!!!), and despite hitting 40+MPH on the descents, the other two gals killed it and left me in the dust. What made the ride epic was a bunch of rollers straight into a 15MPH headwind (with some crazy gusts as well), which we got through with some good teamwork. 52.5 miles/2546'.
Friday and Saturday were a bit warm - temps in the mid to high 90s F, with heat indices of 110-115, so I did a bit of tooling around and errand time on the single speed in the evenings.

Rode with souplesse. Felt one with the bike. Awesome. How did that happen? Couldn't see the last 2 miles thanks to sweat dripping into my eyes. When we stopped, sweat literally was dripping from my headband onto the floor. Stayed with Vicki on the climbs. A good day.

Sat: 50mi shop ride. got out pretty early but it was still hot in the 80s into 90s by the end. we stopped at some kids selling lemonade for their charity group, one of the riders had cash and bought us all some and the kids were psyched.
Sun: short solo mtn bike ride 9mi. early again but it was still pretty hot if i stopped moving. back to rocky and chunky CT after buffed out bike park trails at NEMBA fest.
Wed: well I had a great ride lined up with friends for the 4th but I got to the start point and had drained my Di2 battery over night in my car. must have had a lever against something. pretty pissed off about it and immediately bought a spare battery to keep with my bike stuff.

This morning I got out for a 6.38 mi. TT run. I try to do this TT a couple times a month to measure my progress. Last year I did a PB of 17.7 mph. This year my goal was 18 mph. Last month I hit 18.1 mph on my first attempt. Today, despite a 3 mph headwind in one of the fast spots, I did 18.4 mph. Hot and humid. I was dripping sweat when I finished.
