^ I might do this as well, but mostly just in case there is a rush to buy them and they sell out. I guess doing that may be what causes them to sell out, so I may be part of that problem if it occurs.

I just saw a link to the very high resolution shots of the updated pictures. You can get a better look at the beauty of this hub fully assembled and the threads on the spline in the second image.

The first is my desktop background image right now.

^ I don't believe that there are any pre-orders going on. When it is released and picked up by the distributors, you'll be able to order it from your LBS.

I asked my lbs to contact the Aussie distributor who didn't even know what we were talking about. I can see myself ordering from OS (again - the local bike industry doesn't give a **** if you aren't a racer wannabe).

The link to the new 2009-2010 S-A catalog has been posted to the S-A blog:
https://sunrace-sturmeyarcher.blogspo...og-is-now.html

It's got some neat photos and specs of the S3X.

I hope it's a combination shifter and brake lever.

^ It's not going to be. The actual shifter is the same and it just uses a different pod or interface to connect to the bike.

Thanks for posting this. I also noticed they're doing cranksets in 130mm and 144mm bcd. It looks like they only come with those awful-looking chainrings, and only in 1/8", but hopefully they'll be adding a competitively priced crankset to the market. And at least they had the sense to offer it in a 165mm length.

Hopefully someone can get firm prices for these hubs soon...

^ I will let you know if I see them show up in our distributors' databases.

I'm also curious as to why cogs in 1/8" are offered in 12-18t while 3/32" cogs are only offered in 12 and 13 teeth. This doesn't really affect me, however, as I'm going to be using a 3/32" Surly cog anyways.

Seems to me they know they're audience too well. I really wish they had done the 3/32" as the primary option on crankset and cogs, but it's probably much better marketing sense to go with the inexplicably popular 1/8". Y'know, cuz I'm a strong rider and I break 3/32", *****ez.

Cool. I'll order the matching thimble lever to operate it with my North Road bar. All the other parts are standard so you can use what you already have. I do have a 165 mm crank on my Raleigh Twenty. I have been waiting a long time for a fixed gear hub. The only regret all of us have is Sheldon Brown isn't around to see this happen. Its finally here!

Just called Sturmey Archer about availability. They informed me they had to retool a major part of the hub which has delayed its release. They had no idea when it would be available...

We hear that it is still at least a month for ur sample.

I have already booked complete bikes {KILO S3X}
and wheelsets for as soon as they release the hub. I certainly want to be early in the offering of this interesting item.

Also ordering Fantom Cross UNO with Nexus-8 as soon as dropbar road shifter/brake lever is available with Nexus detent spacing.

I like internal hubs

I have a frame waiting for one of these hubs too, just going to take several years for it to arrive. Dario has a few frames to build before he gets to mine!

I actually just wrecked the frame that was waiting for this hub. Well, now I care less about the incredible vaporware S3X
