My diet has improved a bunch, been doing real good. Some friends say that I'm looking thinner. I don't see it but then again, I see my arse everyday! The weight is the main factor for me. I planned to do some hills lastweek but didn't cause of the rain threat. This week if it don't rain!

Hey Mr Beanz,

I was out there on the trail in the rain on Thursday. Apparently some of our homeless buddies got bored and turned a bunch of sprinklers around so that they sprayed the bike path rather than the grass. The rain wasn't too bad, but running a gauntlet of of sprinklers hitting you from both sides is a better test of my rain gear than I bargained for.

By the way.... Is it OK if I ride on your path tomorrow?

Sat the 29th.....50 miles on the trail. Nice day! Ran into BF member 211 for the first time at the Honda Center rest stop. He was a lil wet from the 3 day sprinklers!..Ended up riding together for a while on the way to the coast. He hung with us then met a few of our friends. Real nice guy, 211! Then he joined us on the return till we pulled off. Nice to meet you 211!

Saw a few others out ther too! Nacy and another that shouted out "Beanz"! He looked familiar but couldn't place a handle to his name. I think maybe Chrome?

Me

211

On the return, Gina, Sarah, BoyLd and 211

Charlie along for the ride!

It was very nice to you in person Mr. Beanz and Gina. Saw their pics here a lot on the forums but never got the chance to ride with them. It was a pleasure! Yeah, one of those sprinklers hit me right on the face

It was also very nice to meet a Sarah, Boyd and Alex! It was a cool ride and hope to do it again one of these days. On the way back, Alex and I headed east to Anaheim Hills. Man, Alex has a heart of an 18 yrs old. I followed his lead @ 19-22mph all the way to Yorba Park. I was chasing him the whole time.

Again, it was a great pleasure to meet you all! Very nice group! Thank you for the pics

Man Falls 30 feet, dies after concert. A 27 yer old man walking home from a ColdPlay concert plunged 30 feet to his death after he tried to leap across a gap in a bridge spanning a riverbed, authorities said.

Witnesses saw Guillermo Gomez of Alhambra try to jump across a 10 foot gap that separates the westbound and eastbond lanes of Katella Avenue and fall onto a bike path below, siad Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

Gomez, who had attended the concert Tuesday night with a relative, died less than an hour laer at a hospital, Martinez said.

The gap in the roadway was surrounded by 2 foot high concrete barriers. Associated Press

I noticed on Saturday that the underpass at Katella was occupied presumably by homeless. Every once in a while the police would go under there and clear them out. The guy who tried to alpha-male Mr Beanz and all his buddies have to walk a narrow path. One police call and they're all in trouble.

Even though the SART is technically not part of the Platinum Triangle, it borders it.

I heard about the accident, sad!...I stopped by the restrooms today cause the guy was there. He just looked at me then walked away into the grass area. Problem solved!

Hey Beanz, I think I paid my dues on that one. About 45 minutes after I left you guys, I saw a woman flagged ne down on the San Diego Creek trail. She needed help changing a flat. She had done it once a long time ago and forgot how. She had most of it done except for getting the tube to seat properly in the rim. She wqas back on the rode in about five minutes, but it seems there were still dark forces at work. Read on.

Got a late start heading back to the car. Crossed the bridge at the Riverview Golfcourse around 4:30. Not exactly the time of day I want to be in that neighborhood. As I'm riding by the homes there, I hear a "pffft" and then feel a stinging pain right between the shoulder blades. Some sonof***** shot me with a pellet gun. He got off another shot that missed. What a MFer. As I was doing about 20 mph I was very quickly out of range. I had half a mind to turn around, go right up to the guy about half an inch from his face and say WHAT?!?! I guess I should feel fortunate that it was only a pellet gun and not something of a larger caliber. Point taken. Don't be around there when the sun goes down, that's when all the animals come out. Hey, do they make Kevlar cycling jerseys?

Anyway did 80.17 in about 4' 42" felt strong at the end, could have doen another 10. Getting shot at does tend to increase the amount of available adrenaline doesn't it?

HOLY ********** LEWIS!...Is that the bridge near Edna Park? We were back at the truck at about 3:30. Looked like it was about to get dark then. We were wondering if you had made it back yet. If it's the homes just north of the park, I saw about 4 16 yo kids hanging there. When I see a group of youngens hanging, I always throw a "I'll kill you" look at them just incase they're thinking the wrong thing! Especially after Alex's story of a couple of thugs trying to knock him off his bike near Greenriver (few years back).

Maybe it's a sign you're supposed to let me finish ahead of you on bikejournal this year!

Yeah, it was just north of the park where the trail looks like Mirkwood Forest. I almost half expect to get jumped by Shelob and her minions there. It was dark through there and I was still wearing my sunglasses which didn't help, but in hindsight, probably a good thing. It was just past the bump on the trail just as you pass the park going north. I did not see anyone, but then again I was looking for cretins ahead of me, not behind me. I guess that big orange jersey was too tempting a target.

That's the second time I've had an incident there wearing the SAME JERSEY. What the hell!!!! About two years ago, I saw several teens near the trail. As I approached, one of them saw me and picked up a stick. I knew exactly what the SOB was going to do. I ramped up the speed and as I passed he threw the stick and it struck my rear triangle and bounced off. As I was leaving the scene I shouted to him of whom I thought his preferred sexual partners were and what he preferred they do to him. Hell I thought the SGRT was supposed to be the questionable trail. At least there the taggers get out of your way as you pass. Polite taggers. Go figure.

So new strategy is to start early, end early and when I go through there, ride like hell and look like Beanz!!!

With respect to letting you finish ahead of me on BikeJournal, just where were you at around 4:30 today? Hmmmmmmm??

Well not a SART ride but since I had Friday off, figured I'd get a ride in. 20 miles from home to the Baldy tunnels. Down 4 lbs since cutting out junkfoods a couple of weeks ago!...Climb wasn't as tough as I was expecting. Maybe it's a good sign!

Hey Mr. Beanz,

Did you encounter any headwinds up to the tunnels today? This morning I rode with a friend up to the Village, out GRR to GMR, down to Glendora, out to SGRT to Ramona and back to Upland for about 70 miles. Talk about a good time!! There was a strong headwind almost all the way up to the Village. Fortunately the wind was pretty calm from there until we were heading back along Badillo.

Soon you will have to change your signature to The Leaner Meaner Beaner.

Good luck with your training. Let me know if there is a time you want to get together for a ride.

I felt the breeze more on the descent, thank goodness!. Nice ride there Dutchie! I need to drop 20 more lbs before I can even think about staying anywhere close to you on the hills, I'd be riding by myself anyways. Not even sure about then! You done already kicked my arse too many times!...But I'll get there!

Funny, I had 'Leaner Meaner Beaner' as my sig on another forum back in 05 when I was.....The Leaner Meaner Beaner!

I didn't say we rode fast, I just said we rode!

I'm sure you would do fine now and will continue to get faster as your training continues.

Saturday December 6th......Not many riders out but most the usuals were there. 53 miles, a little breezy but a nice day. had some laughs at the coast, like usual. Fellow BF'er Prolene was there. Then ran into MerckxRider on the way back. He was on his touring bike heading the opposite way. But turned around to say hi as we crossed paths. Didn't recognize him at first without the 7/11 bike! Rode with us for a bit then headed back on his way. After he split, we picked it up to about 21 for the last 10 miles. I was shocked but Gina looked comfortable and didn't yell at me once, Hehehe!

Me near Gypsum

Hey Beanz,

I'll be going from my house to the beach and back either next week or the week after. What time do I have to hit SART to catch the Beanz train?

Sunday, 48 miles. Lucked out, no rain at all. Of course it rained on us driving the fwy 2 miles before we get home. Turned out to be a nice day. Started out cold and dark but not bad. Saw the Bent riders, Pinoyrider and EricAnderson. Other than that, it was only Obie on his cruiser hanging ten at the beach.
