Chicago - 8-27 to 9-3?

Probably not the whole time, but I've got those days off from work and was thinking of heading out to meet some of you kids... Greyhound's pretty cheap if I order a week in advance, but I know I won't have enough money to get myself a hotel... But I could probably kick someone some beers or some Jameson....

Anyone got some floor space for a drunken brakeless rider? Anyone got some time to show me around the town? Good stuff to do while I'm there? I guess I'd miss your CM, which I've wanted to check out, but that's cool. Maybe some other time

I'm just taking the days off because I'm kind of burned out at work, and I have 144 hours of vacation I need to burn by the end of the year. If I don't use it, it goes back down to 40 next year, and we just finally got back up to 3 shifts of people in my dept so I don't have to worry about how bad things are going to be if I take more than 2-3days off at a time. I figure I might as well do something with the time rather than just sitting around here and riding the same trails...

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out - I really need to get out of this town for a bit...

Oh, and answers here or by PM or an email to jeremy.werst at gmail.com are cool...

Jeremy - I can put you up over the weekend. During the week, I'm crazy busy (especially on the large project I'm on at the moment) but I'll see if the DCC can't help a brother out.

I'll have to check with the roomies, but I should be able to put you up for
a day or two during the week. I should also be able to take a day off
during the week if you wanna ride. Hooky day, anyone?
You should try to make it for CM if you're coming down, though.

Right on - I'll check with my boss when I get into work and see if I can take the 26th off too - that's when the CM is right?

Sorry for the short reply, but I was up till 5am and now I'm kind of rushing to be able to get to work on time - I'll reply again once I get there...

Well I got another couple of days off, so I could head out on Thurs the 25th or Friday the 26th - probably taking the Amtrak since it's not much more than the bus and probably lets me just take the bike on without taking it apart.

Would getting there at about 4pm on Fri give me enough time to hit CM, or should I figure on trying for Thurs?

I'm thinking I'd probably head back Wed morning, which would be the 31st, but that's flexible...

that's more than enough time to get to the CM. it doesn't usually leave until around 6ish, anyway. The amtrak station is only a few blocks away.

Right on - I don't know where anything at all is over there, so I figured I should ask...

Amtrak on the northeast corridor no longer allows bikes... you should check on that before you assume it's ok.

I hadn't had a chance to call them yet, but I just got off the phone and I do have to box it

Oh well - there's not many pieces on the bike anyways...

The night of the 27th is also the Midnight Marauders ride. So that is something else you can check out while in town. I'd offer up my couch but my pit bull has this thing about guys. He loves the ladies but can do without guys he does not already know. . .

I can put you up Sat/Sun. Fred (monkey), you said the week, can you get Jeremy somewhere warm either for Friday or maybe the Monday and Tuesday nights? Ira (Ira in Chi) said he could help out too and so can Tristan (teadoggg) so check with those guys or let 'em post up here too.

There's also a BBQ Birthday Party Sunday night you'll be dragged too if you're crashing at mine Sunday.

I'm doing Mass along with everyone else so we can all meet up Friday and whatnot. We'll sort stuff out.

Looking forward to also meeting up with Jasonsan at CM. Who else is down?

My couch is available for a few days, though there's really nothing right by my house and it may be a bit scary coming home real late if we aren't out together. Just let me know. Also down for CM. Meet @ Cal's around 5, have a few and head down? Oytie?

I'm planning on going too. This will be my 1st CM ride. How will I find you guys? It would certainly kick *** to roll up seeing several people dressed as limo drivers holding "Rehab Circus" signs.

Hey. The bar would be a convenient place to meet if HereNT is docking at Union Station--four blocks east then one south (ignore the nonsensical jaunt on Quincy shown in the map). I'm assuming union station, and I could be wrong.

Anyway, I'd be interested in meeting at the bar, but probably not interested in continuing on to CM--but who knows.

Critical Mass is my bar.

I'm taping bottle cages to my drops to hold tallboys.
