I'd imagine that some of the testers are built cheaper to avoid the added expense of working with pricier materials early in testing, but I could be wrong. They do look interesting. Looks like the shift lever behind the brake lever might shift out from their normal position. Think you use it like a Campy shifter, but instead of a thumb lever you click it out for shifts with the derailleur's spring tension?

I agree that they do look kind of "blah," but it is only a prototype, so I'm sure they'd refine it more for the final production models.

Those shift/brake levers look cheaper than Sora...hope it shifts a lot better than it looks... Of course I welcome more competition in that arena...maybe if they do a good job it would force Shimano and Campy to lower their bloated prices.

As long as it's got hidden cables, and works well with Shimano, I'm in.....
How could Shimano have started the hidden Aero cables/Levers back in the 80's, to not give a rats about the crazy shifter cables hanging out in this day and age?
It may not bother many, but it sure bugs me... Campy has my next groupo money mainly because of this.

Looks kind of toyish, but I've always had good experences with Sram stuff, especially their chains. Judging by the wear on the bar tape, the rider has had them for more then one ride.

I am not sure how much affect they will have on prices for us normal folks.
The SRAM responce in that article says they are going to be Pro level and race weight with cutting edge components.
Darn, I was hoping to get Ultegra/Centaur/Chorus level componentry at 105 pricing...
I wonder when/if they hope to bring their technology down to the masses

Will SRAM buy 0G for brakes on the new group? They article said they will have brake but have never seen any SRAM road brakes. Other thing can be road versions of their mountain stuff. Truvativ would be the SRAM subsidiary doing the Cranks.
Maybe they could buy CraneCreek for wheel down the line.
I can't wait to see more picturs of these.

Man that looks CHEAP.
BTW, it's the clamp holding the brifter to the right side of the bars that's the silver area, it's exposed cause the bar tape doesn't cover it. It's not a button.
I actually can't see the other part. Cause it looks like the brake lever assy just pulls back and the minor lever behind it makes a shift in 1 direction.

Considering the human interface is towards the shape, placement, and size of the levers, I'd say these things look ergonomically a lot cheaper than a 105 or ultegra lever (if that's the market they're putting themselves in).
Also considering the fact that looks sell a lot of bikes (why would I want a colnago when I can get another bike with 99.995% of the same qualities for half the price?) and components, this thing in its current state looks cheap.
I'm actually much more interested in that brake caliper in the background...
