Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just got busted!

My wife just caught me in the shower... and she really thinks I've lost it.

What else are you supposed to do in NY when you have no yard or water hose?

You should mount a hook for the front tire in there so that it could drip dry too.

Nice!

Don't think I'd let my ride get that wet though! How long does it take to dry the thing off?

I talked her into letting me leave it in there to dry. Next I have to see if I can use her hairdryer. Seriously, it actually worked quite well. The shower has one of those handheld sprayers so you can point it and aim it just where you need. You can also use the different sprayer settings to keep higher pressure away from the BB, headset, etc. but blast it at the bottom of the downtube and those areas where it gets really nasty. I think it was particularly fond of the 'message' setting. I have to recommend it to all of the city dwellers out there.

Keep the water away from the seat tube - Merlin uses an aluminum sleeve inside the Ti seat tube. When it gets wet, the aluminum oxides, forming a gritty paste. Makes getting the tube out a real chore.

My seatpost is wrapped with teflon tape, no metal to metal contact.

Did you clean the bathtub out afterward?

And if not, why not?

Swear to god, just yesterday, I gave my bike a bath the very same way, in the tub at this hotel. Only I took the front wheel off so the bike would fit without having to slant it at that angle, and put a towel under the front fork. I didn't turn the shower on it though, used a pot to rinse so I wouldn't get water on the handlebar tape or seat.

I did give the pool some thought. It's outside and open all night--gate opens with room key..

you sure did! I am beginning to suspect a lot of NYers have bathed with their bike at some point or another. Good thing she didn't catch me when all I had on was my arm and knee warmers

If my wife see me in the shower with my bike, she will probably file for divorce!

OP: Nice shower!
I'd clean my bike in the shower if I gave a *****. It's a mtb, it's supposed to be dirty!
