If you're not aware, I'm hosting an online party where you can drop by with your photos, video and audio comments. Here's what you can do in a nutshell:

- You can upload 8MB of images, video or audio at a time via the web or 200 MB per day via FTP.

- Upload both race day and pre-ride content.

- The photo/video gallery is totally dynamic ie. there are multiple ways to search and sort through the content to create galleries on the fly. Here's an example of a gallery that will grow as (real) prologue content is added:

- You can vote on and summerize the best content using a "my favorite" feature.

- Geocoding isn't quite finished but you can enter a location description or the geocodes manually with the help of a provided linked map. Hopefully, geocoding will be working in the next day or so. The next step will involve plotting the clips on a google map.

- you can easily copy and paste the html needed to embed pictures in bikeforum discussions.

- the best uploads will be rolled into a nightly video recap of each stage.

I've removed the test photos so the system is ready to start with fresh content. Upload some photos of the stages you've ridden and of race day and see what you think:

enjoy the tour!

I'll try and cover the first KOM of Stage 2 (Happy Valley Road) with my camcorder and digital camera. The problem is that I've never downloaded from the camcorder to my computer and I've lost the OEM software (PIXELA ImageMixer). I'm going to the store today to see if they have something to replace it. Is there any freeware out there that I could use? I think that you said somewhere that you wanted a max length of 10 seconds. Still true?

Well, I downloaded some pre-ride shots of the first hill of Stage 2 and it was pretty easy. Now, if I can only figure out how to save video clips from the camcorder.....

Congrats on being one of the first posters! How old is your camcorder. If you have a firewire connection, it should be as simple as connecting it to your computer and dragging the files across. In raw format they will be very large so unless you compress them, you'll need to upload them via FTP. Also keep your clips short (under 30 seconds). Uploading via FTP is explained on the Grassy Knoll Upload Content page.
