50+er With One Foot In The 80's "New Bianchi" Pics
https://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLan...fromshare&Ux=0
Here's a link to a slideshow of the "new" Bianchi I built up a few months ago.
It's a 1987 Columbus SL 53cm frame.
2006 Campagnolo Veloce Crankset and BB, F and R derailleurs, and brake calipers.
Tektro aero brake levers.
Old Campy downtube levers (friction), and old Campy seatpost and headset from e-Bay.
Nitto Technomic stem and B-115 bars.
Cinelli bar tape.
Saddle is unknown Italian made, leather covered.
Wheels are Matrix Aurora (soon to be replaced with silver Open Pro's), and tires are Conti Ultra 2000.
There is even a pic of "yours truly" for your 50+ viewing pleasure.

Very impressive Sir. Darned good photography and a beautiful bicycle. I'd be proud to have something like that, I bet you are too. Justifiably so.

Gorgeous. How/where did you acquire the frame, or is it a bike you've had for awhile?

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I must say it rides as good as it looks.
I picked up the frameset on e-Bay this past summer. The wheels and saddle were the only parts I had on hand that I used. Lots of stuff from ProBikeKit and A.E. Bike.

Louis,
Great job! You make all of us who build up, preserve, or restore vintage light weights, very proud. What's your next project? A '60s era bike maybe?

Beautiful bike and the results are classic. I did something smilar with a Trofeo 51cm seat tube x 54 cm top tube frame & older components to get one of my favorite rides. Don

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging comments.
Also thanks for noticing the great photography. But I must come clean...I did not do it, it was done by an old friend who is an accomplished photographer. He used a Sony H-1.

Wow, beautiful bike. I'll bet that Bianchi frame gives a ride as nice as it looks too.

Nice ride! But a question...How come all of you forum members are so dang small? I am 6'. all leg and need a 63 cm frame to fit properly. Seems like everyone else is riding a 55 or so. Ain't fair!

Louis:
(or anyone) . . . in pic #7, what is the function of that black thumb screw. It looks like it goes into that spring to the right. Just curious.
Nice looking bike. My vintage bike dates from '73 and rides great, but, it looks like a beater. I'd give anything (except money) to get it to look new again.

That holds the axle in place on the horizontal dropout.
