My Bianchi/Miyata 710
Here's my two bikes. Well... kinda. The Miyata was purchased by me, and resides at my house, but is technically my girlfriends.
First up, 1983 Bianchi Alloro
3M on one side of seat tube, 421 on the other side.
Lots of campy stuff.
700c wheels
Carbon bottle cage, Carbon Stryke aero-bars, shimano aero levers (old ones interfered with bars), Black and red(Silva) candy striped with black(Ravx) bar wrap. Cheapy schwinn tail-light, Cat-eye EL410 headlight, Cat-eye Mity 8 computer.
This bike is well ridden. I was searching for Donations for the MS150 one year, and my Mom asked one of the guys she worked with... he gave me the bike. Said he hadn't ridden it in over 10 years. I rode it hard for 4 years doing training rides with friends, and 4 separate MS150s. Then neglected it for awhile. Recently got it back out and since November I have put over 500miles on it.

Miyata Seven Ten.
Rx saddle
SunTour components
27in wheels.
Araya rims
Minoura bottle cage inherited from Bianchi
The serial number is J770860, but there's a large "F" sticker at the left, and a large "J" sticker on the right.
It's a little rough around the edges. The paint is scratched and chipped, and the rust spots match the brown brake cables, stickers, and pin-striping
. Not very pretty, but I'm having a hard time bring myself to a tear down and repaint... my girl wants it deep metallic purple. I looked it over really close, and feel worse about it after seeing the shape of the stickers (they look great)... which might be paint, I dunno. They're very smooth, unlike my Bianchi. I need to get a pic of them, I don't have any good straight on pics of the bike. The components and hardware are definatly weathered too. I know NOTHING about this Miyata. I bought it from a friend who works at a Bike shop. He bought it from a customer, replaced some stuff, gave it a tune-up, but realized he liked a BMX bike for bar hopping and stuff he did. My girl swapped the seat out (payed more for the seat than I did the bike
). I couldn't resist a $40 bike that reminded me of my Bianchi and would get my girl into riding. She does some 14ish milers, but more often we simply put around the neighborhood at night.

So, what can you tell me about my bikes? Where in the line-up were they? Good components? Year of Miyata? Any good way to clean/refinish the Miyata metal parts?
I just don't understand my friends spending upwards of $600 on entry level bikes, when these bikes have so much character, and ride just as well.

I think we have the same year Miyata 710, T-Mar told me mine was a 1981 at some point. I love that paint color. I paid 200 clams for just the frame and the bike is my commuter, trainer, and everything in between. I built mine up with Sugino touring crankset and 105/MA3 rims. Also put a B17 champion special on that is getting really nice about 1k mi in. Kept those same cool Suntour DT shifters. Great to see someone else with this bike... the craftsmanship seems high and the ride feels plush

I love the color also. Once I get it cleaned up I need to take some pics in the sun light... it just looks pale in these pics. And yes, very comfortable bike to ride. Kinda wish I hadn't given it away as a gift

Nice bike, I have an 86 Seven Ten & commuted on it for some years before I retired. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you repainted to the dark purple metallic your girlfriend wants. I saw a Terry in that color yesterday. It was in for maintenance & was a beauty . Very feminine look with lighter purple bar tape & lots of shiny acessories.
