Weird Russian Track Bike
Really weird... but I kinda like it. Especially the double seat tube. Not so keen on the handlebar set up but I am sure it serves its purpose well. Here's the linky to the site.

Rather wacky to me...
you could lean wicked forward without hitting your nuts. I hope we can dig some info up on this frame...

Kind of proves the old rumor of the former Soviet Union and East German athletic programs surgically altering cyclists.

There was a period where there were several bikes of similar builds, but the dual seat tube is something I haven't seen done before. An interesting bit of track history right there...

Split seat tubes are nothing new. Some Italian bikes were built that way to shorten the wheelbase and rear tire would fit in between seattubes. Another option was the bent rear seattube.

The split seatube reminds me a Rigi road bike I saw reviewed way, way back (mid-eighties) in a bike mag. The seatube was split, and Rigi had to make thier own special front derailleur to fit the right seatube. The two seatubes were very thin, and the wheelbase extremelly tight. The tester found the bike painfully stiff, but insanely fun to sprint on.
The handlebar setup, though, makes me nostalgic for the Gitane time trial bikes that Systeme U and Laurent Fignon rode in the later part of the eighties as well.

...and he's got a Dugast tire on the front - very interesting bike.

Quite a few people have mounted the stem to the fork. This one's my favorite.

I think it was mostly a response to the rules that said that both wheels had to be the same size. If you can't move the whole headtube down, just move the stem and bars.
Of course, I think the pic above may disprove my theory. I can't tell if the front is smaller or if it's just the photo.

there's at least one Rigi track bike running around Tokyo. I posted a pic a while back in the other thread.

I should have been more specific, I have not seen a split seat tube AND the fork crown mounted bars before.
