Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It might be more useful to repost this thread as a poll. Anyhow, my various bikes are Full Carbon, Carbon with Alu lugs and Aluminium.

My bike is made from blueberry pancakes. They are a little stale after 6 years but still eatible. If I get hungry on a ride I can just take a bite out of the top tube :-)

I'd like to know from the riders who have a steel and carbon or steel and Ti how they compare since you ride both?

1. Aluminium - Dawes Giro road bike
2. Steel - Old Peugeot 10 speed frame converted to more modern road components
3. Aluminium & steel - Miyata "frankenbike" wierd hybrid parts combo, vaguely road bike. Great ride though
4. Steel - Schwinn Traveller III inc. original steel rims! 10 speed cheap classic

Bikes 1 & 2 are my mainstay bikes in the UK and get roughly equal use

3 & 4 live at our place in Los Angeles and see less action (sadly).
