Thanks for the tip! I just signed up for the 60-70 minute wave. My goal would be to break 60, but I think the chances are slim at best. My best to date is 65.

Jeezzz that's a lot of money for an 8 mile ride. I love Diablo, but I don't know....

Still..... I can ride Diablo anytime, and I'll never get a T-shirt..... so, I'm with you.

They always need volunteers you guys.
Last year I drove up one of the trucks with everybody's warm clothes - Ty's wife is going to help this year... I think we could use another 2 or 3 more.
Also check-in, rest stops, etc.

I remember how completely packed your truck was last year.

I don't mind paying the reg fee, it's for a good cause. Plus the finish line spread was pretty nice.
I hope they have the Jamba smoothies again.

Chris, if you want a smoothy, I'll get one ahead of time and leave it in the truck, I'll trade you for whatever you win.

What if...
If it takes me 2 hours, do I get 2 t-shirts?
Every time I've ridden up (only to the junction so far), I start from home (near Pleasant Hill Road and Olympic Blvd in Walnut Creek - just over 10 miles to the Athenian School). It's a 3 + hour round trip (for me), but my time is dropping. I'll just be glad to make it to the top - even if it is starting from the Athenian School.
When I was a kid, we used to ride up from Northgate, but could never even make it to the Junction on our heavy 3 speed bikes! Never thought I'd be one of the nutcases that I used to see on the Mountain every weekend...

They have my name from last year so I'll post here when they start looking. There was one organizer for all the volunteers and she did a pretty good job with the registration but kind of fell short on the warmie caravan so I think I'll offer to take over that task.
There were only three vehicles last year and they were stuffed. Four or five would have been better, pick-ups would be best but vans and SUVs with lots of cargo area would be great too. Drivers will be able to watch the pre-race activities, score Clif bars and Starbucks, get an ugly T-shirt, then drive to the Summit, watch PizzaMan solo in for the win, reunite riders and backpacks, and enjoy the post-race events. We'll be among the first ones at the School and the last ones to leave the Summit - count on about 7am to 1pm. It's really a fun time and a nice way to get involved.
They should allow parking back in the school now that the soccer field is done (edit - nope, Monte Vista only again) but there won't be room for everybody. Caravan drivers will be able to provide extra support for friends and family (trainer storage, folding chairs, iPods, etc)

If they do, I'd bet that all 3 of us are faster than the time I rode last year.
Plus, my new bike is 1.5 pounds lighter
