Raleigh Team Pro catalog???1979 or '78

Does anyone have a scan of 1978 or 1978 catalog with the Raleigh Team pro on it. The bulgier site has a '79 catalog but the Team pro is not on it.

I have the '79 catalog, the same as the one on the Bulgier site I think, and the Team Pro isn't listed. However, the cover shot is a rider on a Team Pro! It's kind of a stylized shot and doesn't show very much of the bike beyond the model name, unfortunately.

That's the one I saw. One can't see any details on that cover. I'm trying to find the catalog with it just so I can compare it to the Bike I just brought home.

I realized that I also have a scanned copy of the '78 catalog. Below is the only place the Team Pro shows up, so perhaps it was sold as a frameset and parts spec'd with the dealer.

Hey, the cover on the catalog "Raleigh80s Pro Frames" shows it with top tube cable guides. So....they didn't come with braze-ons till 1982??

What's your serial number? There are a lot of variants out there. The "real deal" comes with a SB serial number, and some of the better-framed models (not the cheap U.S. market Team Records) were built in Worksop with the "W" prefixed serial number.

I think that's it! Also, since it does have a bunch of different parts, it could be they are sold as framesets, but I know nothing about Raleighs. I only knew that I'd better buy this one.

I did see that one, but I tend want to see it in a catalog or hear from people that know their stuff; like you guys. Also, being that it's in a site pretty much dedicated to "fixies" I didn't really read too much into it. Mine is exactly like that one, mine is just not in that perfect condition.

I'm not sure if it's a number or letter or if it's even part of the serial. If it's a number it might be a 1. I'll post pics later today of the BB shell so you can judge for yourself. I read somewhere here that you had a 1979.

The year is the third digit, so you have a 1978-made frame.

Worksop made, rather than Ilkeston. It's likely this is one that's equivalent to a Professional, or Competition, with the Team paint job.

Do you know your seatpost diameter? I'd presume it's 27.2mm.

Are there cutouts in the lugs?

I'll check out the seatpost diameter tomorrow. There are cutouts in the lugs. They are also painted; some yellow some black. Also, don't know if it makes difference, but the guy (Belgian) who I bought it off told me that he bought the frame set from a British guy that was stationed in Belgium. He said it only came with the BB. I'm going to give it a quick cleaning tomorrow and post pics. One thing that I did noticed was how light it was though. I think I did very good in getting this bike. It is my first known British bike-----come on Kurt...make it 2.

At the price you got it for, you better be lucky I'm even considering sending that Alyeska your way

-Kurt

P.S.: Remember, the Alyeska is not English. It is a U.S.-only model (not sold anywhere outside the States) made in Taiwan for Raleigh USA.

LOL! Well; the Alyeska will then be my one American bike; with an English name.

The cutout lugs were what came on the Raleigh Professional, so despite the ever-present caveat that "with Raleigh all things are possible", I'm pretty confident that you got the equivalent of a Raleigh Professional, painted in Team colors. Pretty much the same in specification as an Ilkeston-made Team pro with 531 tubing - only made in Worksop.

Qualifies as a "good catch" in my book.

It's not me with a '79. I have a 1970 Professional, a 1978 Super Course, and another mystery (to you guys at least ) Raleigh that I haven't yet taken receipt of (but not to my knowledge a '79). Of course I will take and post pictures upon receipt.

That makes sense. I was at first confused because I kept seeing all these other Team Pros with and without cutouts lugs and then I read somewhere about Ilkeston made bikes. From what I gathered, all Team Pros bikes, which were made starting in 1974, were made is Ilkeston and had SB as a prefix in their serial number. Thanks for all your help. I now kind of feel as if I know a little about my new bike.
It's been raining and hailing all day here so I was unable to take pictures of it outside. Here it is after I cleaned all the mud off of it and removed the Shimano 105 Crankset. The FR and RD are also 105 and I plan on replacing them with either campy or Dura ace. It also turns out that the BB is not campy as the Seller had originally told me. It's Shimano and it's silky smooth. I'd assume that Campy was what used on these bikes, though I have both a campy and Dura ace group that would look good on it.
Here are the pics. It's in rough shape but given I payed $50 for it I'm pretty happy. I might keep it as it is and just ride the hell of it or get it resprayed and still ride the hell out of it.

$50.00!!!

It's worth close to 10 times that - at least here in the US. Give it some touch-up paint, build it up and ride it like mad.

Why so surprised? You find all kinds of expensive bikes and parts over there for next to nothing!

Thats cool you found an actual frameset a pro team back in the day raced on though!
