Sprocketman...I met him!
BFer Sprocketman, hooked me up (along with several BFers) with suggestions about rides on Oahu. So I rode Sunday with him. Sprocketman, AKA Brad...a real good guy, took me up Tantalus, a bnig long switchback climb in Honolulu, with about 1400-1600 ft. of climbing over about 6 miles I think. Well, the loop is 9 miles or so. My altimiter gave me two very different readings for the two laps of the loop.
Anyway, very cool guy, great to ride with, and we got caught in a really long deluge of a downpour, which made it even more fun. I was riding the brakes on that monsoon descent. I could not afford to explain to my bosses why, after they spent all this money for me to be here for work, I was in the hospital because I crashed on my bike. No, would not be a god career move. Anyway, his Cervelo is out of commission for the moment so he road his MTB, and we talked most of the time, taking pics and whatnot. Oh, that jersey I am wearing is from one of the local shops, Boca Hawaii, who had a 50% off sale on their jerseys. Nice memento form my rides on the island.
Here's a thread with a couple other rides I did on Oahu:

Here's the route but the altitude is off, maybe because of the passing storm.

Here's a bunch of pics..

Hey Gerald - great pictures from a nice ride! That rain was nuts - I'm glad that neither of us fell. Especially you with your 19mm tires.
The second to the last of your pictures was taken in the same spot that I shot a video of my wife riding nearly a year ago. I recognized that pine tree on the left side of the road:

Also, you'll recognize this section of road right after you pass the park at the beginning of the climb:

By the way, did you ever have drinks with the girl who hit your car?
If you're ever in town again and you have time for a ride, feel free to give me a call.
