Dream wheels.

My hubs have to be sealed, and the wheel needs to be durable, though fashion certainly scores points. Here's what I'm thinking for my new wheels. Phil hubs, bladed spokes, deep dish rims. Any other ideas?

ditch the bladed spokes bro...no fashion there for street use. Go with Phils/Velocity Deep V combo

Bikes: Yes!

Don't know if it's what you're into or not, but Velocity makes some tandem/touring rims that are rugged as all hell. Dyad is what they're called, come in black or silver with braking surface, V shaped...

i second the deep v. too bad they don't make a linear-pull hub for track (i.e. pulstar), that would be chichi-licious.

With 165. Who cares about bladed spokes unless you're racing?

What about the ones that are just slightly bladed (1 or 2 gauge)? I wouldn't dare go with full blades.

Thank goodness I work in a shop!

I have another, sorta related, question. Can I put the new Campy track cranks and BB on my Pista? I can't find the info on compatability.

Within 3 months, I will own a dead sexy (even hotter than she is now, by far) bike... just you wait and see. Big plans.

I really want to find a set of those scary spinergy wheels with the really thin carbon blades. I'd need it with a track hub, but I've only come across them with cassettes so far.

Dammit! Didn't you read my message? Stop it! Spokes, spokes! Straight spokes! Double butted if you must, but spokes!

Ok. I need to go to bed.

If i remember correctly, it is better to mate Campy cranks witha campy bb, regarding taper interface

Since about July. The guys at Velocity said they use them on 29'ers, too. I have been able to roll over anything with this wheelset!!! (Surly hubs and Michelin TransWorld City 35mm tires)

No doubt. The stock BB on the Pista is ISIS. I assumed he wanted to get a new Campy BB. Even if you could get a Campy crank on an ISIS BB, I don't think it would work out too well.

I'd love a matching set of high flange Phil's on Open Pro's w/ DT double-butted spokes. Maybe the black ano rims. I've got a rear disco on OP that takes a ton of abuse, that's also pretty sweet. Maybe someday I'll have enough $$ to mate it up front.

Some Velocity deep-V rims would be cool too.

Bikes: Specialized Stumpjumper M2Comp; Habanero Ti-Team; Slingshot Road; 1962 converted Raliegh fixer aka: The Beast

Since it is for you, how about scoring a set of old Campy Shamal's (high polish) and lace up the Phils to them. Or the Atlanta rim if you want more spoke count. Same rim I believe. In the sunshine the bike would take out the retina of anybody within 20 paces.

Definitely Paul hubs on either deep V's or Rigida DP18. I think it's rigida, it might be sun. Black butted spokes would make them totally stealth.

Bikes: Thylacines...only Thylacines.

Paul high flange track hubs, Sapim CXRay spokes ( a mild aero spoke, no slotted hubs needed ) or DT Comp if you prefer round ( please, no black spokes ).......rims are tough. I like the aesthetics of deep dish rims, but I haven't found anything over 30mm that isnt heavy or crap. A good compromise is the Mavic CXP33. I used Velocity in the past but the quality has been sub-par, but heaps of people seem to use the latest ones and they seem to be okay. I saw a 30mm Sun rim this week that looked quite good. ( ironically quality has gone UP now that they're made in the orient ) can't remember the name but it might be worth checking out. Open Pros and the new DT RR1.1 rims are pretty cool for traditional rims.
