the sun rim that thylacine is talking about is the VENUS rim. i saw a set laced to suzue promax CF hubs at interbike and they are hot **** for sure. shiny as hell.

i'd get cxp33s for uber durability, just because i know they have a pretty good rep for being bombproof. i haven't heard anything about the suns, with regard to durbility.

i dont care what you build but maybe you will like this:

phil 32h radial, velocity aerohead non-machined all black semi-deep rim, vredestein fortezza 23mm w/ white sidewall.

aerohead arent as deep as the deep v, i thought they would suit my bike better since it is more classic than yours. but if you are going for a suppa tech bling bike you might like the deep v. whatever rim you choose i suggest getting it nonmachined so that its all one color. and one more vote for pauls high flange, they are the ****.

The Spinergy Spox?

I rock 'em, but only the front...they don't make track hubs in that style. some of the earlier Spox versions that shipped with Shimano cassettes can be fitted for track use...dont think the Campy cassettes are track compatible...

Aww, why break the trilogy with DA hubs? What not some Gaansari gold Pauls hubs and gold nipples as well?

Bikes: Can't stand the damn things...

I hate to disappoint everyone, but I've decided to go with *gasp* another bike. For a similar amount of money to that I'd have put into the Pista, I'm going to buy the 2005 model year of this.

https://store1.yimg.com/I/phattire1_1814_733736

I'll be able to spank road geeks with a disc braked bike, and embarrass most of my XC friends with a road bike, all for one low price (I love working in a bike shop). I'm going to make it a single speed and go racing cyclocross this winter. When spring starts back up, I'll put more money into the commuter Pista.

On another side note, I've just booked my ticket to China for next summer. I'm going to buy a bike when I get there, and have it converted to fixed. Then I'm spending 6 weeks riding around the country on a fixie.

Might be a bit of a chore unless you are going to use a singulator to make up the tension. Or does the Eno come it disc mounts?

Umm....are you serious? If you're going to China, what you need is a S&S Coulpled mountain bike. Why does the Redline have discs? It's not like you can go or stop that fast with tires that thin. Anyway, 26" wheels are lighter, stronger, conform to airline size requirements, have greater tire choices, blah blah blah......man, you're off your rocker. If you want a do-it-all bike, a cross bike is not it. How do I know this? I built one, rode it, hated it. It does nothing well.

Anyway, China is a cool idea though. Look up Yunnan Provence. I dream of riding there someday.

I believe it's not art, but instead a medical abhorration that shoulda been bucketed at birth.

Looks like a nice bike. Good for you. Ride what you like.

The discs are because wet muddy slushy rim brakes don't work for nothing.

definitely. I spend a month in PEK every year.
One idea is to bring your fixie specific parts and get
something built up. or even just bring a rear wheel
and go from there.
