new project
i just got a new project bike but it needs some work.
the first thing it needs is a fixed cog. Can i just go and buy one? Or is there an easier/cheaper way to do it? Also i was wondering what chainring to use, i am using the larger one now on my ss so i know if i use the bigger one i have to leave them both on which isn't very sexy. O and i need new pedals with clips but thats not really a big deal. Anyway any advice would be great i've been riding ss for a while and am looking forward to going fixed. thanks Chad |
you need a fixed gear hub in order to thread on the fixed cog, but to get one, you basically just go to any bike shop and ask for one.

hmm is there anyway to jury rig a fixed gear cog on to a freewheel hub?

And finally, use a brake until you are very comfortable riding without one. It is cool to yell "OUT OF THE WAY, I GOT NO BRAKES" while bombing a big hill, but it's less cool to go splat into the side of a bus because of it. |
