Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Specialized P1

Hey guys n gals...I also have a Specialized P1 Dirt Jumper in my fleet that I use for a lot of down town city/ urban-scape riding as well as canal paths. Bike is a great bike n fits me almost perfect. The chain ring is in need of replacement and I have also been thinking of changing the gear ratio. Current set up is set up is 25t/12t. I average consistently around 13mph and that seems to be me where I top out.
Has anyone had luck going to perhaps a 27t or 28t chain ring to be able to increase overall top speed?

Only other big changes I was considering would be to eliminate the suspension front fork and upgrade to hydro discs over mech...

Thanks for the input n thoughts in advance. Truly love searching around this site...
