I think I've figured out what you're asking. You mean high vs. low profile tires like in the automobile tire world? i.e. 195/60 vs. 215/50? If that's what you're asking, there's not really an equivalent.
However, if you buy a wider tire, 700x38 vs 700x23, chances are the 700x38 will have a high profile. It will also be heavier but more comfortable. So the answer depends on what kind of riding you plan to do.
