Cornering techniques on a track bike

So I was complaining my motobecane track and endurance road bike handled the same. It seems I wasn't cornering properly on my track bike. On my endurance bike I just lean into 90 degree turns, but on my track bike I found I can lean into them and then turn the handlebars to turn really sharp. Is that the right way to corner?

Also due to the high BB clearance I can even accelerate into those turns by pedaling. Is that advisable?

Yeah I think so since overleaning will cause you to hit your pedals on the pavement.

I think you would have to really lay it over to strike a pedal on the road. My bike has a 75mm BB drop and I run 172.5 crank arms with Dura Ace SPD-SLs. I pedal through corners almost all the time and have never hit the ground yet.

On a track bike, you might hit the right pedal when riding slowing on the banked turn on a 250m or shorter track. This is typically a 44/45 degree bank on a track built to official standards.

Bikes: Litespeed Catalyst, IRO Rob Roy, All City Big Block

Pedals go into the equation as well. A wide platform is going to hit the road in a leaning turn a lot quicker than a clipless road pedal. Just feel it out and take it easy on turns until you get an idea of how far you can lean in on the bike.
