ss shops in europe
'm gonna be in europe for a month (spain, amsterdam, brussels, paris), and would like to look for some old track bikes (free shipping home on Air France). i have a list of bike shops in paris. but it doesn't really say if any of them are good for track bikes. i'll probably ask around once i get there, but it's nice to get a jump now. any one know of any hole-in-the-wall shop where they might have some track bike gold stashed away.
someone mentioned a track shop in amsterdam:
RIH
150 westerstraat (jordaan district)
amsterdam
any other leads would be appreciated.
i'll give you an update w/ pics (hopefully) once i get back.

i think there was also a thread about it, but there is a shop in berlin, germany (keirinberlin.de). its not on your list of cities, but the choices are limited. a lot of velodromes in europe have closed down.

i also posted this in the track forum w/o success. i'm not necessarily looking for track only shops, just ss shops that have more than city specific bikes (i.e. dutch 'granny' bikes). oh well, leaving tomorrow, we'll see.

if you haven't left yet and if you get to London try Condor cycles

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

I found nothing exciting in Paris. OK, there was a place (one of several shops) on the Avenue des Grandes Armees which had a whole lot of clothing on sale and some pretty nice road bikes, but otherwise I was generally disappointed.

There used to be 4 velodromes here in madrid. . . they are all closed now and nobody even has an extra trackbike laying arround. It's really sad you know. I asked a couple of shop mechanics who used to race and they said that they haven't had one come in for a long time and that the only place you could probably find one here at this point would be at an ex-racers house. No track love here in spain. . .
