I'm a long time single speed rider, and puzzled by people buying cheap, new questionable bikes.
There is an abundance of old road bikes ( or mountain bikes) available, that can be converted to fixed or single speed.
Very few have major failures of frame or components, and if they have horizontal dropouts, almost no cost to convert.
Am I missing something?

Why buy new clothes when there are thrift stores full of cast-offs everywhere?

Leader bikes have had a generally good reputation for many years. Some people prefer purpose-built bikes with track fork ends to hacking up a road bike like it's 20 years ago.

Others do a couple of hack jobs, develop a taste for single speed or fixed, and then get a good bike.

I have to disagree.

I've never known, nor read anything about Leader having a great reputation. What I've actually always read is about issues such as what was just pictured with cracking and seatpost issues. That's always what my impression has been about them.

Thanks !
Unfortunately not from a Dealer
I Just sent a Message to the person I Got t from to see about Possible Warranty
Thought about Drlling a Hole, Used to do that on My Street Bikes Plastic But I Fear too late for that as it does Go Around :(

One possible stopgap solution is to drill through the seat tube below the top tube and tap threads into the seatpost on both sides of the frame. Then you insert screws to secure the seatpost to the seat tube.

I did this with the Nishiki aluminum frame shown in the photo below when the frame cracked at the weld just below the seatpost clamp. If you enlarge the photo you can see the cracked weld which extended around the seat tube, and the hole in the seat tube just below the top tube for a screw to secure the seatpost.

Nishiki Alien ACX frameset with cracked weld

Here’s a better picture of the cracked weld:

Thanks Tejano Trackie

I am going to make a 2 Piece Bracket that will go Around Frame Tubes and Bolts Together.
Don't Laugh, I Have no Choice
Then Maybe I Will Patent it & sell it To Leader Bike Co. :D
I Am no Fabricator But have a Basic Idea that will work....... I Hope !
I Just need a Bender for Thicker Metal. Was Going to use 1/8th Steel and Glue old Rubber bike tube inside the 2 Pieces where it will be Against the Frame
then I will be Able to Ride the Wheels off it ! :speedy:
