I picked this Basso Ascot up about two weeks ago. I think it's about a 90' model, not sure yet. Full Campagnolo Chorus group in Choral finish, Columbus MS tubing.

Nysss...

That bike is/was listed for sale in the SIR facebook group a few days ago and many years ago I had a Gap that I liked alot so I was somewhat interested...was that listing from the PO or are you trying to flip it?

Drummerboy1975 05-09-16 06:50 AM

Still waiting on grips, but got the new pedals, tires, saddle installed and had to snap a quick photo.

looks great!

I am a little concerned about the angle of your saddle, though...

What peddles are those?

Yeah, the saddle is still a work in progress. I have no experience with that kind brand of saddle and I'm still working out the angle. I also have a dropper post backordered, so everything will be put into a more official position once that comes.

The pedals are Canfield Brothers Crampon Ultimates. I have Spank Spikes on my other mountain bike and like them a lot, but I wanted to do purple bits on this bike, and these were the highest rated/skinniest/lightest purple ones I could fine. I've tried SPD pedals, but I find myself hiking a bike more because I can't get clipped in fast enough before the technical descent or put my foot down while climbing and then can't get clipped in fast enough, so have to end up hiking. Both these and the Spank Spikes do a good job keeping with your foot on the backstroke, so I don't really notice any loss of power. Plus, mountain biking is less about being fast and more about doing stupid **** with your buds and drinking beer on top of a mountain.
Canfield Brothers Crampon Ultimate Pedals. Thinnest platforms on the market.

Got an especially good picture sans attachments like saddle bag, pump, etc.

Your largest gear is friggin' huge  36T?

(Do you gear down that much during your commute, or is it more of a nice-to-have rather than a must-have?)
