Let me reassure you it is ugly. But not hideous ugly, just unattractive.
And I never knew it's pronounced Chinelli. |
I was hinting at the santa cruz stigmata MASH....

The steel vig does have some appeal without the paint scheme but I can say for sure that the Shinelli (as one of my co-workers pronounces it) Mash Work is sexy as hell, everyone else from young to old, grizzled and grumpy at the shop seems to think so as well. Can't wait to get mine built up.

Since you all are already discussing Cinelli here...
I'm looking at the Gazzetta ($900) as an upgrade to my cheap Back Alley. I'm a little confused by it, though. I assumed it was built off of one of the framesets which they have for sale. But, the framesets seem to all be aluminum and the same price as the complete Gazetta. What am I missing? Is it a worthwhile upgrade in terms of the components? I have had some problems with the cheap components on the Back Alley. I'm already replacing the bottom bracket after six months of light riding, the wheels seem poorly made and forever out of true (despite being trued multiple times), the brakes suck, handlebars suck, etc. I'm not sure its worth modding. As unhappy as I am with the 16X42 gearing on the Back Alley, it seems I would still need to upgrade the 18X46 gearing on the Gazzetta to 16X48. |
The crankset & wheelset on the Gazzetta complete are crap. If you're looking for a complete steel bike in the $900ish price range, the All-City Big Block is a much better choice.

The Big Block comes with two brakes and freewheels aren't exactly expensive. Aside from the track drops, I can't think of anything you'd "need" to replace.
Ata any rate, we're off topic now. |

For anyone in Italy, it looks like there's at least one shop taking pre-orders on the Vigorelli 'Electric Feel',
Set Telaio Cinelli Vigorelli 2017 Electric Feel | MilkyWayShop They have some good high resolution detail shots, too. They look better than what's been posted here. Here's their full bike shot, the detailed JPEGs are much less compressed. http://img.milkywayshop.it/catalog/p...feel-36943.jpg |

Yeah nah.

I dunno, I think it's growing on me. I think it might look okay with more normal wheels (e.g. Archetypes or something with black, not gumwalled tires) and solid black or white bartape.
(maybe even silver bars/stem/post/etc. instead of black? I'm not a fan of black parts.) |
that giant ass headtube matches the fork. that's the one thing I kinda don't like about steel bikes with carbon forks...the 1 1/8" head tubes always look kinda funny with a thick legged carbon fork mounted to them.
|
Anyone have any insight on whether I should get a rear Paul Funky Monkey (or similar cable hanger) for my Work that will be running cantis. It does have the internal routing but being that I haven't installed and set up cantis on a brand new frame that I can think of and haven't really played with them in a while (beyond riding bikes with them) so I am unsure what I need. I got one for the front but am thinking I should probably get one for the rear to help things out a bit but maybe I am wrong?

Now that we've decided the steel Vigorelli is ugly, is anyone allowed to say when they'll be available in the U.S.?

I think that's his point. That on other bikes with 1 1/8 head tubes, the large fork looks outa place.
