Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? What is it you enjoy about the narrow tires?

Just the only thing I've ever ridden. I've never had an issue. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

You've never experimented with other sizes just to see what's what? Never?

Ok so I decided on the Panaracer T Serve folded. I went with the 32. I decided I like the way the bike rides overall but wanted a faster tire so I stayed with the size that's on there already. I picked the Panaracer because the myriad of reviews I read seem to agree they're a bit of a more comfortable ride. Not as harsh as the Gatorskins. And the quality and longevity seem to be good.

I get them tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know what I think. Thanks for all the help.

Good choice, T-Serv's are great tires.

I borrowed a 700x25c from a friend, because I didn't have any more spare tires, and I was kinda weirded out by it.

While there's a thread about tires, are Gatorskins longer lasting and less prone to punctures than Randonneurs or T Servs? I'm looking to to try something new and have never had any of thee listed. Weight doesn't concern me neither does tread pattern that much. Just a long lasting 28c tire.

All of my conti tires tend not to wear out much. The only reason I ditched my old Gators is because my rear actually got punctured by a piece of glass during a storm and while the hole was small and insignificant, I had new wider ones that I wanted to try. Those old gators saw many miles of commuting in all conditions and got pretty well abused.

Alright sweet, I'll probably get a pair then. I tried out Conti Ultra sports just because they were cheap and they ended up being pretty good. Compared to the Soma everwears I had before that blew out in the sidewall area.

Probably the worst that will happen is they will last so long you won't have to replace them so you can try something new. I will say Conti needs more tubeless ready stuff in their road/cross/gravel line up but I am sure that will be coming and I know their stuff can be used generally just fine but I want dedicated stuff.

Quick update:

I haven't gotten the chance to do a full ride, but a quick ride around the neighborhood once I put the Panaracers on proved I was complete idiot to wait this long to buy new tires. They are smooth and fast and I can't wait to ride tomorrow. It feels like I have a new bike!

After riding 28c Paselas for a year or so now, 23s feels like riding on the rim

So, everyone saying 23's are too narrow. Turns out I've been riding with a 700x20c and didn't even know it.

I just put holes in the sidewalls of a Gatorskin and an Everwear. Don't ride gravel on 25s FYI.
