amaretto and pbr

as the offical spokes person of the 'hipster' movement (according to the people at the party that i'm at) amaretto and PBR is the new official drink of the hipster movement. so, whenever you dribk PBR, mix a shot of amaretto in with it.
of course, take into account ihat thiis is a ciderpunk writing this. I can't stand pbr and need something else to make it palatable. so, if you're at a party with nothing but PBR and amaretto and you can't stand beer. .

So amaretto and PBR is the new fixed gear.
drink up. its good.

Another booze thread in the FG & SS forum. These things pop up as often as the "What bike should I get?" threads in the road forums. God, I love the FG & SS forum.

You sick bass turd! You should just take a dookie in a blender and mix it up...cheaper and probably tastes the same.

delay 05-22-05 02:00 AM

weak, just drink your ******* beer. Whether thats a hipster drink or not I don't care, it sounds revolting to me. Come to the midwest and drink some Old Style for a while. You will have no problem with PBR when you get home.

daveIT 05-22-05 02:14 AM

I drank a Miller Lite last night and it tasted so weak. I've been spoiled on good European beer for too long!!!

If I remember correctly from my bartending days... dropping a shot of amaretto in ANY pint of beer is called a Dr. Pepper (cause that's what it tastes like) You need a about 2/3 of a pint of beer, and you actually drop the shot (glass and all) into the the pint glass...as soon as the shot glass hits the bottom of the pint glass...Chug...

Well, actually I prefer OE or Colt 45, but that's my 3rd... At least when I'm drinking malt likka...

DKfix 05-22-05 05:54 AM

The last "hipster" drink I tried was Zima and grenadine (no,I didn't just make that up). PBR and Amaretto sounds slightly better, but not much. I think I'll stick to being unhip and drink decent beer. :D

Bikeophile 05-22-05 06:56 AM

yeah i've been a guinness boy since I was old enough to steal it out of my friends' dad's fridge...15years ago...geez I feel old.

salome 05-22-05 07:07 AM

someone kept refilling my glass. i think i had over a gallon of beer. that's alot.

my rule. *****ty beer makes me feel like ***** the next day. good beer makes me feel good. yeah for good beer and kalamazoo michigan.

Something I've noticed about guiness : If some part of you is not from ireland somewhere down the genes, you can't stomach the thing.

Me ? I'm quite partial to the thing. Great-grandmother from there.

Bikeophile 05-22-05 08:03 AM

yeah I've never thought about it...but I do have family in Ireland so maybe that's it :)

techone 05-22-05 08:18 AM

Love Guinness, not a drop of Irish blood in me. I like Murphy's Stout more, but just.
Used to drink Killians Red with Amaretto years ago, called it a flaming Dr Pepper.

SSSasky 05-22-05 10:13 AM

Oh. My. God. Murphy's stout is sooo good. I also love Guiness. Actually, I was discussing with a friend of mine that if I had to pick a single beer too drink for the rest of my life it would probably be Guiness. But I'm on a whiskey kick right now anyways.

There's a really bizarre cougar bar in my town that serves Murphy's in pitchers. It is the only place I've ever seen serve good stout in a pitcher.

Amaretto into any beer is indeed a "Dr. Pepper." You're supposed to chug it, but since it won't curdle, you don't really need to.

I prefer Irish Car Bombs ... Take a tall highball glass, half filled with Guiness. Drop in a shot glass, glass and all, of half and half Bailey's and Irish Whiskey. Drink fast. This one curdles. Tastes like awesome.

powerjb 05-22-05 11:19 AM

While i certainly do love both Guiness and Murphy's, I have to say that good REAL Ale (Cask Ale) is a better choice while i'm out on the bike. no fizz means if i don't have to let it settle before i jump back on the bike.

Though, when I get back to the US i may be out of luck. it's tough to find there...

Old Style always made me nervous. Maybe it was the red white and blue can with "HEIL" on it in fairly large letters.

salome 05-22-05 12:05 PM

a friend of mine drinks corona and grenadine. it tastes like redbull. ickk. he says it's a culture thing. whatever. ickk.

i second the murphy's stout. delectable. can't leave out good ol' sprecher in milwaukee (maybe it's a hometown kind of thing). their irish and imperial stouts are pretty darn good too.

i'm a mutt so i think i like all beers.

jim-bob 05-22-05 12:08 PM

I grew up on sierra nevada pale ale. It was the beer of my people, "my people" being shop rats.

ETQC 05-22-05 12:17 PM

Last night, I tried two hard belgian lagers 8 & 8.5% if my memory serves me right, to kickstart the evening. One was named Lucifer, and the other one captain' something-or-another. We were eating pizza (the good kind) and my 3 supper companions were on red wine (girls ....). Weird thing is, I can't drink red wine anymore, since the time I was sick on it. Seems like the tannins rush straight to my head and hold pitbull fights for the whole night, which is not a good feeling.

So hum, yeah, I'm sure I had a point. Oh yeah, I drank murphy's too last night, as well as some local brewsiks.

i'm no expert, but i think a flaming Dr. pepper is 1/2 glass of beer, shot of amaretto (including glass) with a little 151 in it. your light the shot (it IS flamable), drop it in the beer and chug. last one to finish buys the round. first time i did it, i set my hand on fire. south fulcrum set a bar on fire one time ... ah, the good life.

This poses quite a unique etiquette problem ... who pays the round for the firemen? The looser or the igniter?
