I like the gatorskin 28 on the rain bike. Looks like I will get at least 3000 miles on the rear wheel. Also very few punctures.

If you go cheap 28's. If you buy performance 32's maybe. I just used the stock tires on my SE Draft until winter rolled around. They were 28c Kenda Kwest and after a few weeks got soft in the center. I liked them considering how cheap they were. They were 28's but measured 30mm when pumped to around 95psi.
Using 28c Continental Tour Rides now, they are a good bit skinnier than the Kendas. When I get my mtb winterized I'm switching to 32's. I don't think it's fair to call the roads on my commute paved even though it's technically a street lol. I need the air volume to be able to glide over all the potholes and bumpy patch jobs. Otherwise I risk chipping my teeth and running into the cars to my left. |
I have a set of 32 Gatorskin Hardshells that I think ride well. I am waiting on a set of regular Gatorskins for another bike and will see how they do.

I pretty much always ride 28mm as long as they don't run big, in that case I'll go with 25s.

I'm running 25mm but I'm planning on hopping up to some light supple compass 32mm
