Riding backwards

thx's hoop to hear back |
going in reverse screws up my spelling, too. ;)
i had a dream that i was able to to do large backwards circles and that i got better and the circles became smaller and smaller. then i woke up.
yes, i'm still trying to learn that going backwards and then popping the front around 180 like i used to on the 20". really hard on a track bike though...
A two-foot bunny hop would be more useful. Learn to do that.
for backwards circles, best is to start by becoming a great trackstander, then get used to 'goofy-foot' trackstands (just turn your hbars the other way) and from there it's not too hard to start going backwards.
not really a trick, but something fun and entertaining for the masses that I did today way to make a kangaroo fixed gear. If you don't plan on getting anywhere very fast and don't plan any hard banking and have too many bikes I highly recommend this...especially for riding drunk.

I could think of many things--sprawled riders among them--that I could clear with a 2' bunny hop. The question that should have been asked, "Riding forwards gets me everywhere I need to go. Why backwards?", does not have an obvious answer.
i've noticed that is has helped me develop a smoother rotation pedaling for forwards too, espeicially when i'm not looking at the wheels but looking backwards or just around makes me feel the bike.

that sounds cool. but i also think it is cooler on track bikes because the geometry isn't designed for those type of manuvers so they are more challenging. plus where i practice in san francisco at this little skating area, all the hot girls walk by and look.

Jump over the dog. Hot girls will find it much more impressive. Oh, wait, evidently all of the hot girls are walking by the skating area watching fixedstep.
well i just figure when no one else is there, and then when i look back at them, and jumping over a dog would be cool
just imagine all those girls watching you jump over the dog BACKWARDS!!!
...in a circle...
...with no hands and one foot on the front wheel...

If you could execute that dog leaping maneuver you would totally get laid by one of those alledged hot chicks. I suggest you begin practicing immediately.
As to the question, "Why ride backwards?" I must reply, "Why do anything at all? Because its fun!" peace, sam |
