Black anodized rims

Sad to say after only a year of use, my H Plus Son rims have started to look really bad.
The black anodized finish is showing some serious wear.
Anyone else have the same issue with these types of rims?

Not having those problems but I don't abuse my bikes and try not to scratch them up or throw them around, that could be a major factor. I am not saying you are necessarily doing those things but if you are that could be the cause. I haven't used H+Sons black rims yet (I do have them to build up but haven't yet) I do use other black ano rims and use the H+ Hard Ano Grey rims and have a set of Araya H.A.G. rims and no wear on those.

Do you mean due to braking? That's unavoidable for black rims unless you get carbon rims with a carbon brake track. Anodizing is a surface treatment, and if you rub it enough it comes off, revealing the substrate below.

I've had dark anodized rims develop wavy silver streaks as they wore, but none of them look bad as a result.

It's the one thing that puts me off building a set tbh. I run a front brake at all times, so I'd need a proper milled braking surface, not a painted/anodised one. The wear would really annoy me haha. I'll be looking at DT Swiss or Mavic rims I think, unless H Plus Sons do a rim with a milled/polished braking surface.

My tb14 rims still look great 3+ years on. However I almost never use my brake.
