Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Getting into it

Hello.

I regularly race 'cross on my geared bike; however, I want to get into SSCX. Is this reasonable as I can not find much information on it other than it retailed for 700 and two videos on youtube. It seems to me as though the seller has removed the fork and replaced it with a steel fork. This along with a hodgepodge of random parts. Is this a solid buy? If not, can someone point me in the right direction?https://www.ebay.com/itm/Single-Spee...19.m1438.l2649

I was originally going to buy a pompino frameset and build it up. The price of shipping and the frame alone would come to 400. Also, for the sourcing of other parts it can easily become an expensive build.

Thanks for the input,

Goat

You should change the thread title to reflect the actual subject matter, and the fact that you are seeking information. You'll get more responses.

The bike sold, so it's kinda irrelevant now anyway. What's your budget?

Now I'm going to lie awake wondering WTF a "salad goat" is.

I was excited about SSCX content. Then. Sadness.

But. If you are a member of the Facebook swap meet group there is a rad Don Walker SSCX bike for a deal.

I've been thinking about building up a SSCX to take a crack at that whole thing. At this point, though, it probably makes more sense to wait until next year.

Maybe. But then you'll just keep putting it off and missing out on all that good off road riding, race or no race.

Yeah, I'm also kinda putting it off just to save and make moving easier when that time comes, but we'll see how I feel when tax refund day comes around.
