Yes that was some badly placed sarcasm. I hate the integrated headtubes and the welds don't look that great. You can go back to my original post. I have removed my comments and replaced them with the appropriate feelings.

The pista that came in celeste was the reparto corse SL Pista, and it was steel not aluminum.

old cannondales like this one are pretty sweet. i'm quite fond of mine. stiff, upright and fast. much nicer than the newer ones.

Dude, if you don't want to spend much money, then you don't have many choices. Being so picky, you're probably better off building your own.

Oh, I don't know, I think $600 is a lot of money for a bicycle frame, but I would even be willing to spend more if any of the "high-end" aluminum track frames didn't have those ******** integrated headsets. But I was pretty much resigned to either waiting for an older one to come up in my size on eBay or going custom before I posted this thread; I was just checking to make sure there wasn't anything I was missing.

You may think that 600 bucks is a lot for a frame, but to tell you the truth, for a new, purpose built frame like a proper track frame, that's on the lower side of the usual going rate. Most half decent track frames start at 600 and go up to 1000 with a few hitting below here and there. For 600 or less, all you're really going to find is a track bike that is set up for the street. You'll be able to ride it on the track no problem, but find that it won't perform like a proper track frame. Also, what's wrong with buying used

well if you're going the ebay route, you could consider and old GT pulse too. They pop up every once in a while.

Wouldn't you know it, that GTB at the LBS was a 58. I don't know why I was so sure it was smaller every time I looked at it before. Mine.

You're being really picky, which is fine I guess, as it's your money. I just think you'll be disappointed with the lack of frames you'll find that meet your very narrow specifications.

You can find a pretty nice CroMoly steel frame for your price, and from my limited knowledge, the AL track frame is generally the higher end model - this more expensive. Now, if you're not going to be racing this thing, I don't know what you have against steel. The life of the bike will be substantially longer and it will be a lot cheaper.

Do you have the remaining components to build the bike, or are you going to purchase a fork, stem, wheels, etc.. If you are planning on purchasing some stuff. I'd just save up and buy a Fuji Track Pro or a Bianchi Pista Concept. Both are $1400 and -really- nice bikes.

Specialized Langster (I think these things are pretty ugly) $500 for the complete bike.
