Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

These are the largest pedals I have found to date. They are good quality and not obnoxiously heavy. I think I paid $33 on ebay.

Thanks. I'm reading they're fairly wide which is very important to me.

I just got some Merritt P1 BMX pedals with YNOT straps. They're quite low profile and the YNOT straps are thick so I had to drill them out. Liking them so far though! Good grip but not overkill and they're nice and wide.

YNOT straps are the best.

I've used Holdfasts and Fixation and YNOTS are just so much better, they stay open and don't crush down and after several years show almost no wear. My Holdfasts frayed after a few months and I'd always be reaching down to pop them open.

That's awesome to hear. I was deciding between holdfast and YNOT and I just liked the look of the YNOT's better as well as less branding. Still trying to perfect the 'getting your other foot into the strap while pedaling with one leg'.

I like the Time ATAC MX series pedals for any bike that I may ride form time to time without my cleats -- they have a big big platform (good for street shoes and ok at minimizing hot spots on road rides) and they're super durable (one of my sets were on my MTB for 12 years and many pedal-strikes and still work like new). My biggest thing is that I don't really want/can't afford to own more than one set of cleats, so on my CX bike and now on my MTB I use the Time Atac XC series pedals for more clearance (egg-beater style).

Bikes: Yes, I have bikes.

Shimano m647. On long rides I clip in and on a short run to the store I just use sneakers.
