Goofy Footed South Paw

anyone else fit that description? feel like im at a disadvantage... at stops i put my right foot down and keep the left one clipped in. my right leg is definately stronger but im always pushing off on with my left leg. im going to try to practice using the other leg, but it really just feels wrong. also, strangely enough, when i trackstand, i lead with my left and cant the wheel to the left.

I only put my left foot down and trackstand with my right foot forward. Every time I've tried in the past to force myself to do it the other way, I inevitably fall over. It's frustrating since it seems like such a simple thing. . . not to mention kinda embarassing.

yeah-- skateboarding totally trains you into being comfortable with your "front foot" and "back foot." ive always skated goofy-foot and trackstands are all the same... right foot forward, left back. ( i think being left-handed or right-handed has little to do with it) i can trackstand the otherway somewhat-- but its much more difficult. (just like skating switch-stance)

I've always been a little confused about my foot. Never skateboarded much, but I was goofy when I did. When I used to do inline skating, I would setup for all my grinds and such southpaw too. On the other hand, I trained myself to go "normal" when I learned to snowboard.

On the bike, I always strap my left foot in first and put my right in on the fly. Track stands are done track style with the right forward and wheel turned right. I believe this is no the usual.

I have no idea what any of the above signifies.

Im the leftiest lefty around. I do absolutely everything left handed. Boarding, skating, soccer, baseball, golf, etc..

When I trackstand its the same...when I was on a skateboard, my right foot was forward (goofy), and when I track stand my right foot is forward (wheel turned right).

Modmon I always try to unclip my left foot if I need to unclip. It will feel normal eventually.

Even when I first learned to play guitar I was lefty...it took weeks before my teacher could get me feeling comfy playing righty.

I'm right handed, but I skate and trackstand goofy. I clip in with my right foot first, and leave it clipped in always.

I also do not know what this means... I'm trying to practice other ways though, just to improve my ambidexterousness.

It won't make any sense to you all, but I also fight this with my poi spinning (fire spinning). Certain moves I do great forward, but terrible backward, or very good on one side of my body, but bad on the other. The more I practice doing moves in all the possible handednesses (is that a word), the more it seems to improve my ambidexterity in any discipline. Go through a day where you try to do everything 'backward'. Open beer bottles wrong, brush your teeth with the other hand, etc. It'll help your brain practice, just like your body.

peace,
sam

I'm right handed, trackstand right foot forward, and am goofy footed. I thought that was abnormal, givin than right handed people should be left footed, but apparently I'm not the only one.

any right handers wear a left handed side bag like me?

I'm right handed, play soccer with right foot, trackstand with right foot forward and put my left foot down at red lights, right stays clipped in.
Isn't that the common pattern? Y'know, in soccer, too, the left leg is the one that supports you while the right does the finer jobs...

Me, too. It's really hard.

I've been doing this for a while now. I don't think it's helping me much. I switched my computer mouse over to the left side, and I'm okay with it, but nothing spectacular. My one great victory has been learning to shave with my straight razor LHed. That actually took less work than other things. Maybe that's because of all of these cuts .

I can't trackstand, but I skateboard goofy-footed and clip in with my right foot always. I can't even begin pedalling with my left foot--whenever I try, I come dangerously close to a very ugly spill. And when I try pedalling before clipping in, my right foot is far less dextrous at flipping the pedal and clip up.

Wow this is confusing. I skate and surf regular-foot. On my bike, I always put my right foot down, and although my right leg is probably stronger, I push the pedal to start with my left.

yeah--
skating (or snowboarding) regular foot or goofy foot has little to do with being right handed or left.

i skateboarded and snowboarded for 15 years or so and peoples stance is prob half and half... while the population is much more right-handed i think. its just whatever feels right when you first start.

then theres the whole "sh_t-foot" or "d_ck-footed" but thats just some thing different entirely.

yes, something about my foot preferences is contradicting. you skating regular foot and putting your rt foot down and pushing off with your left makes sense, since you like to have your left foot forward. im goofy footed so it would seem that i would prefer to push off with my rt foot since i like to lead with it. im a south paw too, again leading with the right... but pushing off and trackstanding have my left forward always. thats where things dont make sense. yeah, and im hardly ambidextrous.

guess ill just have to really start working out my left leg. id like to participate in a race sometime, and would not want to be at a disadvantage bc of my weaker push off leg.

At least in surfing, goofy-footedness is as rare as left-handedness. The vast majority of surfers are regular foot, which means right foot on the rear of the board.

Right handed, regular on board sports (although I ride fakie almost as well), left foot trackstand. Pretty boring. But I tend to wear my bag over my right shoulder because of a broken collarbone in 6th grade. Not so down with the right foot forwards on a bike yet, and it makes backwards circles mad hard.
