Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Red Bones Ride Part Deux

Anyone up for a ride tomorrow, maybe mid-afternoon? I'm supposed to sweep a pre-breakfast TdF ride on Tuesday but I'm not familiar with the route or the area, so I thought maybe I'd scope it out. Besides, I've been wanting some miles. This would be from Somerville out to Hanscom and back, around 25 or 30 miles depending on some extra features that we may or may not throw in. We could land back at Red Bones and put things in our mouths.

I'm in. I'll keep watching here for specific time and location of departure.

Let's say meet at 2:30pm at...drumroll please....a new location!

We'll meet up on the common at the corner of Charles and Beacon.

Okie doke, just a reminder and a heads up for anyone that missed this the first time around. It should be a pretty moderately paced (15 - 17 mph) ride totaling around 30 miles. It's a warm one, so pack some water.

Well crap. I thought this would be a good morning to change my gearing, but I didn't count on needing a half-link. Sorry that I stood you up Trevor.

Hehe, no worries. I hung out for 15 minutes, watched the pretty girls, spun out a quick 15 miles (the last 4 with a 12er on my back--ow, my lungs!), and came home.

I was actually thinking about calling it on account of hot before I left so I wasn't too heartbroken. I may or may not try again tomorrow.

For now I'm gonna go flip back and forth between the TdF and the Sox game while quaffing a UFO or two. Life is good.
