Chicago: Race Thursday!?
 

It's supposed to be much nicer by Thursday. I'm thinking Carroll west of Damen - it's pretty much empty and decently paved all the way to Leavitt. Pie Eyed Pizza will sponsor 2 large slices and a pop to the winner. We could also throw in a few $$. Lemme know what you think. If no one shows up, at least I get the pizza.

i would join, but thursdays are bad for me. its my evening of drinking.

edit: and then I realized that my "track" bike might not be back together by thursday.
Although I could always throw a fixed wheel on another frame laying around...

Ooh, that means I'll have to bring one of my *good* bikes(and I'll still get schooled). :D
The track is fun, but I much prefer the streets, especially the nice speedways that you guys have there. Here we have crap pavement and all these hills in the way, which are good for your legs (the hills I mean), but it really cuts down on your speed, especially for a slow bastard like me. :p

I haven't been to that area since a friend of mine and I got mugged at gunpoint there last summer (on Fulton and Damen exactly in fact). Another element of surprise for us!

i did webcasts from a wear house loft space on carrol just west of there (behind the building with the fork lift on it) 1999-2001, the worse thing you normally have to worry about is strey dogs. there is or used to be a place that trained yard dogs over there.

generally its pretty empty at night other than the horse carriage stables that i think are on carrol west of damen. might be on fulton. its just west of damen next to or near the goodman storage.

The area's fine - I go there often to see/buy/collaborate on things at Open End Gallery right at the corner of Caroll and Damen (so yeah, I've been there since, just not one street over!).

We'll be quite okay - the desertness is what made the mugging an opportune moment.
