I keep forgetting to take a pic of the bike against anything but I picked up this bike new at the LBS.

Had it out to TTown today for the Masters and Rookies, raced cat 4, daughter raced Jr. Asked her to take some pictures, she couldn't get her butt out of the chair and waited till we were inline with the sun and then snapped a pic. Sadly this was the best. Although I like the bike in general and the fit is good, Look has a lot of work to do on their wheel builds. First race I did at Kissena a couple weeks ago one of the spokes was loose enough that a nipple vibrated off and into the rim, making me miss the second heat. A check when I got home showed that the spokes were tensioned between 35-187kgf, not sure what the spoke that lost a nipple was but it was off enough that the wheel stayed straight even with only 24spokes. Rear was no better. Had to rebuild both wheels to 112 +/-4 kgf to make them stable.

If you get involved with the many active threads in this forum and get 5+5 posts (10 total but 5 per day) you will be able to post photos and get more involved in this awesome forum. It is a great place full of some great discussions and good people and some stuff that makes your eyes bulge but is good for a laugh.

eeBrakes...SOLD! Though it being a Pegoretti doesn't hurt it in my eyes either.

Nice build I need to take my bike out and ride it and get some picks but I too have a love for eeBrakes and my fixed gear road bike and my Titanium Di2 road bike both have them but the all silver version would be nice for a future fixed gear road project.

Thunderdome Chi

Got this bad boy for $475, virtually new with some minor cosmetic damage. I keep saying no new bikes, especially track bikes but I always liked this colorway, All City is soon to be no more, and these were limited production UCI approved framesets.

Fit needs to be dialed in a little bit, but I've ridden it about 500 miles so far this season. Light enough, stiff, and solid handler. I'm able to fit a 32 rear and 28 front, which is respectable for sure.

I'm mainly riding my drop bar bike, now that I bought new wheels with wider rims. It was sporting a 5 speed rear cluster over the winter. Last year I needed to change cranks and I was waiting to deal with the change in chainline until I got newer wheels. So now it's back to single speed, and the new rear wheel is un-dished appropriately and sporting a Shimano MX-30.

The frame is the bottom of the line Schwinn Sprint from the mid 80s, but it’s built up mainly from low-end, modern parts. I do like the new Cambium saddles. This narrow one is very nice for a drop bar bike. I also really like the TRP RRL levers. Those levers on these narrow GB rando bars are the most comfortable drop bar set up I’ve ever had.

Steel Monkey 07-03-24 05:01 PM

One day, last year, I changed my route on a whim. Used a short cut behind a chemical sprayer business. Someone yells out, "Hey! You wanna bike?" A customer had given him a stock Schwinn Wayfarer (daddy cruiser bike). Brought it home, kept only the frame, forks and seat post. Started throwing stuff at it to make it a single speed.

Good tires, no name rims. Mismatched, but highly functional, Sugino/Sakae cranks. Tuf-neck 43 tooth chain ring.

Hot Street Rod USA bars, Origin 8 lever, Olivio brake (I have a front, carbon wheel, but not trained enough to go brakeless.

No name carbon, flip flop hub/wheel. 20 tooth freewheel (got hills here), 16 tooth fixed.

Like the model name, but it ain't a beach cruiser no mo'.

Technically not a bicycle nor geared at all, fixed, single or otherwise! You scofflaw...have fun I remember when we had one at my first shop and we would try to ride it often and I sucked out loud but one guy got almost 10 feet.

I recently gave this bike a little refresh: shorter stem, new bar tape, new saddle (after doing battle with a Brooks Swift for nine months), plus a couple bags and bottle cage retrofit.

I've had the urge to put together another singlespeed for a bit since I haven't been able to ride my track bike for the last few months. Noticed that I had chainstay clearance for the 700x38 gravelkings on this crit bike, and that with the ENO hub, I can clear the seattube and brake bridge as well. I think I'd really like to add some rack mounts :innocent:

How are you tensioning the chain on that though?

I'm using a White Industries Eno eccentric hub. It uses an offset axle that allows me to rotate the wheel to tension it.

Nice bike! Which bars and post? Really digging that matte color. Also, did you get the spokes through a shop? I'm planning a rebuild of my bike and want to get mine rebuilt with the same spokes.
