Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: Bomber Pro, Shorter, Iro MVP, Some old british steel thing

There is always the Futura technique, story is that he got sick of locking up with every delivery and just bought a $17 bike and didn't bother locking at all. Only got stolen once, he just went and bought it back. That's the story at least...

andn btw, anyone else think that they should make a combination mini ulock?
Best for what? If weight and cost are not important, put a Kryptonite New York 3000 around the rear wheel, and a Kryptonite Evolution around the front wheel. But, those two locks weigh about seven pounds, combined.

If you live in "Friendly Village", a Kryptonite Evolution or an OnGuard Bulldog around the rear wheel, and a beefy cable around the front wheel would be more than enough security.

I lock up my $300 bikes in my crime ridden inner-city neighborhood while I'm at the midnight movies, and don't worry a bit. But, I'd never let a "mega-buck" bike out of my sight. If the "bait" is alluring enough, some Pro crook is gonna show up with the correct tools to open ANY lock.

i missed this thread until now
heres what i think im going to go with master u lock with a flat key (freebie) through the front to whatever im locking to and im going to spend the 50 bones on a new krypto mini and use that through the frame to the back wheel
as far as carrying them around, i had one of the master locks before and it fits pretty good between the strap and my chest on the bag secured by the stabilizer strap and i can hardly feel it unless i torque my body is some strange way
im leaning towards the krypto mini because i know its a perfect fit for the back pocket unlike some of the on guard locks
thanks all!
