Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: Foundry Chilkoot Ti W/Ultegra Di2, Salsa Timberjack Ti, Cinelli Mash Work RandoCross Fun Time Machine, 1x9 XT Parts Hybrid, Co-Motion Cascadia, Specialized Langster, Phil Wood Apple VeloXS Frame (w/DA 7400), R+M Supercharger2 Rohloff, Habanero Ti 26

I don't know the rules for WTB here (assuming wanting to buy not Wilderness Trail Bikes) but I bet you will have way more traction in the Classic and Vintage section. I would ask the mods to move it there. While this is specific to SS/FG stuff the C/V folks encompass the vintage stuff including SS/FG stuff and is probably way more active these days.

I agree, C/V section would be more appropriate although still a rather hopeless long shot. Even though I have 68 posts 151 likes, I still can't start a thread in CV forums for unknown reasons. I've inquired twice to moderators with no response. I've tried becoming a premium subscriber, but "they" only accept PayPal for payment, refusing a check or CC. Logic and efficiency in action...what's new?

FWIW, I joined as a premium member several years ago, partially because I wanted an ad-free experience but mostly because I often sell stuff on the C&V sales forum. It was been worth every penny over the last decade or so, and PayPal has facilitated many purchases and sales of mine as well.

The C&V forum IS my top recommendation for your quest; also consider going to Google groups and joining Classic Rendezvous, Dale Brown's internet sandbox that has been going since 1998. The two groups overlap some, and you're most likely to find someone who has what you are looking for. For that matter, between the two forums, if what you are looking for isn't available in the U.S., many of these folks have direct connections to collectors in the EU.

Good luck!

Weird their must be a glitch in the system. The only places I know that are generally off limits to some people are the actual marketplace buy and sell stuff, P&R and Trollheim. I think everything else is generally pretty open with or without premium. Odd that the moderators haven't gotten back assuming they have had time but they are an all volunteer crew. I don't think most people are taking checks these days except banks but that is a whole 'nuther issue.
