Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? does anyone know how to..

Hiyo

i am hoping someone can give me a step by step explanation on how to paint a bicycle frame. such as:

what kind of paint do you recommend?
best way to strip off the existing paint?
what other equipment would ? etc...

basically whatever you know would help. thx

Search the forums for "powdercoat."

yeah i guess its common sense that i should check the forums eh? though i thought it would be easier to just have those who cared to just offer me the info anyway so i could simply recieve a bunch of opinions on the topic without having to filter though all the crap.

din mean to waste your time stickerboy. clever response though! i guess i would have to expect that from someone whose only exp interacting with other people involves the forums.

No, seriously, STFU and search, this has been discussed dozens of times.

And Bicycle Mechanics is probably a bit more appropriate for that than SS/FG, no?

wow! i figured a guy named "jism" wouldn't be so thin skinned.
seriously I've done two re-finishing jobs myself and while I could
describe to you what I did it is probably more advantageous for
you to see the post(s) where I actually took step-by-step notes
instead of vague recollections. try searching "diy paint" for my
threads. you're right jism my only "exp" is with other forum
people. I never ride my bike & no one knows me.

oh and I missed a step at the end: take remaining rattle can of krylon,
shove firmly up your piss hole. and jerk until empty (both can & penis)

Hey man, I wasn't trying to sound arrogant, I'm reccomending that you get it powdercoated and search for a local guy! You need to chill out a little. This is an open, online forum - there will be some people you have issues with. That's why we have the "Ignore" feature. And yes, a can of spray paint will work, a little elbow grease to clean up the original paint, maybe some steel wool to roughen it up (for better paint sticking).

If you truly dont want to waste anyones time then in the future remember to put your question or request in Title of your Thread. That way only interested parties ever read it and respond. You can see that at this post around a hundred people have read it, a couple recommended you search for the info you need so maybe they take an interest in painting frames tonite, hard to say. Likely as not the other hundred people had their time wasted. You want directions from a guy on the street then don't ask him to close his eyes first.

hey jism.. ill answer.. people seem to feel like being difficult tonight.. if you just want to spray it.. you can clean it all off.. make sure theres no grease.. tape off holes for threads and go for it.. try and rattlecan it with several coats.. the thing is.. this will chip kinda easily.. its good enough for lots of bikes though.. if its somethign more special.. then get it powdercoated like they say.. but spraying works fine for that fixie project bike.. thats the short answer

man.. cut the dude some slack people.. is this the traffic cop forum? i thought this was bikes?
