That's good you got the police report, it's come in really handy for friends in similar situations.
And you never know, the thief might not have worked that hard to get in your building, could have been a delivery guy, etc... Your neighborhood's fine, but nowhere in new york is completely safe, especially for this kind of thing.
Your bike's pretty unique, and you've got a lot of eyes open around the city, so I think you've got a really good chance of getting it back. Most small time thieves wouldn't put in the time to repaint it or change the parts etc, just sell it for a quick fifty bucks or whatever.
