Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Because you are talking about 1940's bike technology. Sleeved gear cables were a twinkle in the eye.

Bikes: crappy fake bike

Has anyone ever had experience skidding a Sturmey ASC fixed three speed hub? I was discussing this with a friend, since we don't have a ASC hub I dont know what would happen. I also do not plan on buying one for 350 bucks building it up into a 450 wheel and then testing because that would be an expensive experiment. Just curious.

Ya know what we also talked about... a 2 wheel drive bike. We still have no idea how we would even begin to try to make it work, but it's an interesting thought.
I have some pictures of a failed two wheel drive bike some Mechanical Engineering majors at my school attempted to build. I found it in the hallway being thrown out and tried to ride it...didn't work out so well. If I can find the pictures I'll be sure to post them.
