I haven't been out on the Pista much this month, so I took it out Sunday, to do thirty on the Greenway. for about eight miles the greenway crosses streets, so being brakeless and clipless I like to slow down, well a gear head came up on me and cut me off at a crossing. It raised my ire, and I let him go, as there were two more roads that had to be crossed untill a 7 mile stretch of un obstructed trail. I got on his wheel going up a small hill, he seemed game, I know he was looking for me, as he was looking for my shadow, and a couple looks back to see where I was. On the down side of the hill, I find he's messing with his gears, and pass him. I hear the clicks, but I'm gone, I didn't let up, but I thought he was on me, but nothing. I don't know where the dude went.
Anyway I reach the turn around and come back, still no dude, but a couple guys on MTB, and they're making like they've got game too. I dusted them, but they hung on my wheel, and took a short cut where I had more path to go to reach my turn. So now they're in front of me, and going all out, which is a good laff cause knobbies, are going to wear them down for me. I catch the guy that is drafting his buddy and he sits up, and the next dude hauls as best he can, giving me a run for my money. I did catch him and stayed on his wheel through traffic, finally he sat up, I thanked him as I rode past.
Nice afternoon.
But I had to think what was up with these guys? The roadie cutting me off, acting like he had game and was out matched, and the MTBs having fun, again out matched. I'm not svelte or anything and run a 48/16 out of the box Pista, it's not that special, so I could have and maybe should have been dusted.
I run into it all the time, and then get attitude when I come up on them after they clearly sent signals they came to play. I guess it is the old adage/cliche "it's not a race unless everyone knows it..."

Sounds like fun!
I got to "ride" (used loosely) one this past week and got HOOKED! It seems like a fun bike to add to the stable!
