Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? re-rivet (iffy) or re-purchase (not as iffy)

zip ties, duct tape, super glue. If those won't fix it, nothing will!

I just had this happen to me last week. I poked a hole in the nylon strap about 1/2" from the broken end and threaded a 1" diameter key ring through it. Then I threaded the keyring through the metal clasp behind the rivet. It's held for ~150 miles since then, but I run a front brake, so your mileage may vary.

Sorry, dead batteries in the camera, so no pictures.

Glad to help, Eddie. By the way, make sure you use a lighter to scorch the frayed ends and the hole in the nylon strap to "seal" it.

punch a hole and run a couple small zip ties through the new hole, but i do love the keyring idea! you can be cool and ride only a right strap!

worked perfectly, though i'm taking it easy on skip/skidding until tomorrow. hey what's a good strapset to replace it with? i only just really got the hang of skidding etc on-demand and i guess this tells me i need burlier straps than the cheapy nylon guys i bought with the pedals

which solution did you choose? you gotta run two sets of straps. it's your brakes. please be safe! 2 sets of 2$ nylon, or 2 sets of 12$ leather laminated. both work great.
