Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

for a city with a claim for acceptance and a generally welcoming culture...in SF unless your "in" your out.

A large majority of cultures and subcultures in SF seem to be very clicky.

so sad

while that can be true sometimes i think a lot of it is people just making sure you're really down. it's true that in a lot of these circles you're constantly bombarded with kids who aren't in it for the long haul, and just start getting into [insert subculture here] because they read about it in vice or somesuch thing. a little resistance is healthy. once it comes down to it and people know you're about what you're about; they stop caring about the trivial stuff.

Agreed.

There's a lot of elitism in SF. As much as I love the city, sometimes the way people treat each other here really makes me sick. Although, I gotta say, there's a lot of that in CA in general, SF is just so small and dense that you see a lot of the same people over and over, so maybe that makes it that much worse, who knows....

that said though, i always give everyone the benefit of the doubt and treat everyone equally until they give me a reason not to. just wanted to give another perspective based on my having dealt with afforementioned drama for years in all kinds of respects. it's all bout the love!

Yay!

Seriously though, giving people the benefit of the doubt is pretty much it. It seems that there are a lot of people who aren't willing to do that. It's too bad, but oh well.
F*ck it dude, let's go bowling...

Nothing compared to NYC IMHO, and it does seem way worse on the lists than on the streets.

nah, upstairs was just turntables/audio crap, some officey stuff, and personal bags.

The only bags I saw hanging around were the ones in the window and the four or five up high on the wall.

Also - sorry, I think xl was as large as the shirts went.

thats kind of what i thought, but somewhere in this thread it spoke of a pile of bags, i was just making sure i didn't miss anything, but then i got there right at 8pm and it may have been done by that time...

yeah xl, but it is a small xl meaning it would fit me until i had to wash it, then as said before, another shirt for the gf.....

no worries though, i had a good time

this is just in general. I am not speaking to any specific cirlce or subculture. Its just something i have noticed through out the city in various arenas, venues, cafes, parks, skate spots, surf spots, etc...
