How exactly do Chariots go down? I'm comfy with Miss and Out and stands but I've never quite heard of how chariots are run in track cyling.

Miss N Out:
Mass start race, with designated or x no. of laps where the last rider to cross the line is out until a final three, two or one is the winner. Sort of like musical chairs - the goal is not to come in last.

I'm supposing for our purposes, we'll have something like every two laps, last person to cross the line is out until there's a final winner.

Stands:
You guessed it, trackstands.

Chariots:
Awaiting 165's response. I know how they work with real Chariot racing - not sure how they apply to track exactly.

I thought I was looking at the music thread! ST, did you get your
bareknuckles frame from Yojimbos?
That thing is sweet! My ride is gonna look fugly with
a black dura-ace chainring and yellow rear tubular
(that's all Marcus had that wasn't $100)

Monkey - I have found Conti Sprinters on eBay for damn near nothing, NIB too!

Chariot race - 1 LAP SPRINT - that is all

Steaktaco - you can do these no prob. .

I actually set this up to inspired people to remain track-minded and have something to think about during the off-season. There are a lot of new riders this year, and it is awesome to see so many people in the stands, but moreso on the track!

hiya fred, I did get the frame from yojimbo's, parts from all over. it sat around over a month waiting for wheel parts. when those finally came I stayed up building from about 1-5am, then met naz, tristan, and MN jeremy at 10am to hit the track.

very happy with it but I still need to teach it how to track stand. music thread? you go to my site or something?

edit: k I know what you mean by music thread now.

this has nothing to do with the track, but i didn't want to start another thread and figured you were all reading this etc etc ...

could there ever be a time when we all are free? i'm getting sorta nostalgic over all of you (yes I really am) and would love to have all of us together, for once, instead of 5 of us here and there. I know it probably will never happen, but my little ol' apt. is open for a DCC reunion. just think how far we've come as a group over the past year. it's one of those things that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

love.

Mine is always open as well. I'd love to hang out socially even instead of ride. It'd be fun. Your place is cool too V. We should do a DCC picnic. Food, drinks, etc, by the beach somewhere.

I have bad news for the Chicago Scrubtrack. The 17 & 18th is Celtic fest and bikes are not allowed on Metra all day, both days.

jeff

I am definitely down with hanging out. And I live pretty close to Cleo's which tends to have good food/drink specials during the week.

jeff again

I believe so. If so, then yep, I'd be down with going in your jeep. Jeff has a car - not sure if he's going or not, but he could drive also.

Naz, Carlos: If y'all are still down, we can meet somewhere
and load up the Jeep. I think we can make it work, we'll just
have to take Milwaukee all the way up instead of the highway.
Darn, I wish I had my dad's old station wagon. We used to roll
5 deep to the botanic gardens trail. And the wood paneling was
the sh*t!

I've been trying to wiggle out of an obligation to get up there on Saturday. Even though I am disappointed that chariot racing will be nothing like Ben Hur. I had affixed three-inch spikes to the locknuts of my pauls and have a bolo whip stashed under my seat. All for naught. Not really related at all, but for those interested in putting in some miles, my friend and I are trying to convince each other to do this on Sunday morning: https://www.evanstonbikeclub.org/nsc/.

Fred - totally. Meet somewhere around Wicker Park? How about we grab some falafel sandwiches or such at Sultan's Market and then roll out? Say noon or so.

Noon it is. Medium it is.
