SF - Places to borrow bikes?
greetings san francisco,
i was wondering if there's anywhere in the city where i would be able to borrow a bike from? i realize this might be ridiculous, but i talked to this girl a couple weeks ago or so (her name was kat, is she on this board?) and she recommended me some shop that lets you borrow bikes if you put down a deposit or something? however, i have since disregarded her information because i was planning on bringing my beater up and just riding that. i pull out the beater yesterday to ride it around/get used to it, and i discover it has a bent fork and is currently unridable. this puts me in a bit of a bind.
i'll be there friday late-afternoon through monday morning. if anybody knows of anything that would help me out in this situation, please let me know. thank you!

i want to say the shop she was speaking of was "pedal revolution" or something? does that ring a bell? it wasn't a bike rental place, just a shop that was cool with people needing bikes. the way it sounded was i could leave my house/car keys with them or something and they'd let me borrow a bike, possibly even free of charge.
does the bicycle kitchen in sf do anything of this sort?

so far as i know, there isn't such a thing as a place that will let a person borrow a bike just for leaving a set of keys as collateral. maybe with a credit card too? you could just bring them a set of any keys, how would they know? certainly not trust, this is san francisco. pedal rev might still, ye olde bikes might. on the off chance that either place did lend out bikes i'm sure they'd want more than just keys.
