Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

clankin gears!

last night i rode around town for a bit with some friends who ride old ten speeds. they aren't roadies, just guys who for one reason or another came into ownership of the bikes. you know we're all poor college kids. anyway, it's been awhile since i've ridden with anyone with a geared bike, and i was kinda shocked to hear them changing gears for the first time. but damn, it put a smile on my face when they asked me if i missed not changing gears- i told them no, and took off, and behind me i just heard the most rediculous noises as the dropped gears like crazy to try to keep up. i love my bike.
